subaru legacy mounting problems
hey yall, I so rarely post on here becuase everyones so informative, but I've been searching for hours and am yet to find a good solution for my issue.
I am mounting a xenarc 700TSV in a modified cubby opening in a 2005 subaru legacy. For those of you who may not know what this interior looks like I will attach 2 pics, one of the interior stock, and another of my fiberglass'd modified cubby. I had a guy do my fiberglassing as I am not exactly skiled at it, and lack the patience for the little bit I do have.
at any rate, I THOUGHT he was going to mount the screen in this, but turns out all he did was the actual fiberlgassing, which is very good in my opinion, its exactly what I wanted. The problem is now, that theres no good way to mount this screen. There are signifigant size limitations between the air vents in that the factory xenarc platic cannot fit unless I dremel the sides past where the screen mounts from the factory. The guy that did my 'glassing said he would just silicone the screen in, but I really dont want to do that.
Any suggestions on how to mount this thing? I dont really have any fab. skills.
To answer the question since it might be coming ahead of time hehe, the air vents are mounted to the factory trim plate with screws yes.. but theres only 2 of them that can be used for this, the other 2 are in a bad location and I cannot forsee them moiunting to it. my plan thus far has been to mouint the screen in the dash and to leave the trim plate as exactly that.. a vanity trim plate that interfaces with the screen in no way.
Any help would be muc appreciated here as this is a very tight space for a 7" screen, subaru in 2006 has put a screen here, and I'm researching the part #s for its parts etc. as I type this the email is on its way to my parts guy, they use like a 6.5" screen in this space..
