Why not make the I/O ports like a normal case where you put the insert that came with the mobo in. The way you did it looks nicer, but the insert way would give more people the option of using your case.

love the case and i have a great idea for it, it wont be that durable but if u cut out a window on the top where the logo is, put somekind of glass/plastic as cover and add that logo on top it will look great, but to really enhance the look people can put neon in there and its gona look sick dude.. anyway good luck on the case and ill think about the group buy i might get in too

I actually did that on my first prototype but it was too weak I.M.O. Check the first few pages there is pics of it. Eskalad bought the case that was like that and he was very happy with it. I like the look of the machined I/O ports, its gives the install a very custom look.
Goosey - can you give me the dimensions L x W x H in inches or millimeters of the opus 150

I agree with the I/O ports, it would just be more cost effective and group buy effective if any mobo could be used. Its up to you, if we can do a groupbuy with different motherboards then who cares
5" long. 5-1/4" with the connector that sticks out of one end. We would also need room to connect things, so Ide put this length on the longer part.
4" Wide - Nothing on these sides, so they can be cramped.
2-5/8" Tall.

Compromise. Make the cases all the same and make separate backplates in the same material with machined I/O ports. The backplates could be hold in place just by pressure between the case and the board I/O ports.
This way you could keep the cost of the cases lower and, make the backplates, maybe reusing leftovers from the cases, just for ppl who wants them.

Well if we can got one more person to jump onto the bandwagon I could start a first batch of 5 cases. I like the idea about the I/O plates being the same material but removable. Would def. make things easier. But for now I think I am just going to do the machined I/O posts for you lucky first time buyers. (The squares on the table are 1" square.)

This may end up being a half inch to big for my console.
Can you get us some final dimensions?
Ive got 8" wide to work with, the board is 6.6xx".
Are the mounting feet removable? Hopefully so, if they are, I wont use them and should be able to get it to slide into my narrow console slot. I could just use padded double sided tape. Link to console for reference:

The case is 10 inches x 8 inches and 2.125 inches tall. (its .125" bigger with the lid on) Should fit your app tightly. The plate I added to the bottom it is rivited on but it is not necessary to mount that plate. I was thinking about mounting the case first with screws inside of it then adding my hardware but i opted for the external mount holes, makes it easier to move/remove the system for maintainence, etc. This should fit your bill. Im planning the first batch of 3 for production and this will be for the via m10000 Motherboard. I have the file perfected and want to get some of these cases on the market so I can get some feedback. Here are some updated pix of my "near - completed" on board computer.
*Im hopefully getting a new mustang at the beginning of the week so I have a new car with a PERFECT square opening in the dash to install the touchscreen. Getting very excited!

Perfect. For some reason, one of the pics you posted showed the case was 10" on the I/O side, instead of 8". Now that I know its 8" Im ready to pay when you let us know a paypal.
I noticed your not really on here every day. With doing a group buy youll need to be, or if theres an email you check every day that would work.
Like I said, Im ready to pay and have mine shipped.
May we have a picture with everything mounted and the top open?

The very first post i swaped the LxW dimensions on accident, but yes the I/0 port side is 8" Also the case in the pictures above is 11" long, I forgot that I added an extra inch for intake and exaust fans. The original is only 10" long and everything WILL fit that size but you will have to cut openings because fans will not fit. Im not on here everyday (although i try to be) Ive been involved with my a few larger projects with my company and its been consuming my time. I finished one of them yesterday and the othersshould be done very soon. Usually I fabricate things like this case on the weekends because I actually have time, and the phone is not ringing off the hook, and I dont have to make sure employees are staying busy. Ive been putting in a LOT of hours on the CNC machine lately, the better i know/program this machine the faster/cleaner I can produce stuff like this case.
Im still waiting on my P.S. (m2-atx) and I will post up pics when i get that installed so you can see how everything fits. It is going to look smooth, I found a speciality round IDE cable with only a primary plug and its wrapped in steel mesh. If that doesnt scream automotive application I don't know what does. But yeah im a nazi when it comes to wiring stuff so this is the area I will spend time to make sure its clean work, I don't wan't spaghetti and if there is wiring everywhere it just blocks the fans from circulating air. Anyway Im going to try and get that batch of 3 M10000 cases started this weekend. Ill let you guys know how it goes
Also my email is joe.shock@gmail.com

Looks like now I only realistically have 7-7/8" - 7-15/16". I most likely will still buy the case, but may have to made some modifications to it.
