You could use this with a civic. Buy a civic trim and put the new LCD and Touchscreen in it, and bolt that to the chassis. Viola! Civic ready. If you really want it I can probably do that mod for you.

To clarify:
Even though you are selling yours, the aluminum chassis are still for sale(~$65 shipped)?
I hope Albatron releases their AMD754 mini-itx board soon, because that would be my perf combo, but this chassis is the clencher esp. since I have an 06 f150 with the Metra kit for an alpine anyway.

Yes I am still in the fabrication business $65 via paypal will get you a chassis.
Still no bites on the PC complete so in the dash it shall stay for now. Its been running really good. I have freedom 2.1 on RR running as my frontend. All flash. I may convert carpc version 2 to a media box for my living room. Either way I love doing this stuff.

I am pulling this unit very soon to do some major revisions of the hardware and software. Im swapping out the super screen for a xenarc unit. Adding some FM support and completley redoing the software for more optimizations. May try a flash drive OS install. But def going with XP beast edition. Funny thing is there is nothing wrong at all but i just need to tinker.

I think that you have done a fantastic job with this project. I am starting on a similar project for my Honda Element. I have the parts designed and am now trying to find sources to build the components affordably. I do not have easy access to a fabrication facility. Can you tell me if you know a source that does this kind of work at a reasonable price? I have the faceplate/bezel taken care of but I need to find a source to laser cut or water-jet cut the housing and then bend it to shape. I got a quote from one of the online prototype places and it was around $170. While probably accurate, that is rich for my blood. I would like to buy one of your units but the dash on the Element is tight. Yours would not clear all of the vents and cables that are in the back of the dash. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW - I have all of the drawings and 3-D models complete in Solidworks format if you know a place that I could send them for a quote.

Send me the drawing in .dxf if possible. If not send the solidworks format and i will see if i can open it. I will quote you on this but I cannot see it going more than 100$. I will give you a final quote upon seeing your sketches.
Well I got 2 brand new 1Gb flash drives today. I mini SD and One a USB. I've been reading up on solid state media and booting an OS off of that. New setup will *most likely* have an EWF embedded XP install on 1GB flash drive. I will keep the 80 gig harddrive for mp3's, videos and map data. Im also wondering if I could hack IG3 to read maps off of a DVD disk. Then I could be OEM style, crusin along listening to the Tigers on AM, on a flashed OS, reading map data via DVD. Ill let everyone know how the Flahdrive'n goes

I could fit a slot load on top or bottom but I would need to make a custom trim kit. Ive been thinking about this though. I really have no need for a drive cause all my DVD's are ripped to .avi's anyway, but it would be nice to have. Im also working on putting a volume knob on the front of this unit. My main concern right now is getting XPembedded running on a CF card.

Yes, any 7" screen will fit the metra kit. Every screen will also require a little bit of trimming to fit. Good luck on your project!
On another note I've been doing mad software config for a super fast, super small XPE install. Ive got an image im pretty happy with but im still working on it because i want it perfect for deployment. Im debating about waiting for deployment due to the number of new lightweight fast frontends starting to surface. Either way I got the hard part out of the way and that was configuring a windows install that never writes to the drive its installed on. Im still looking into a HQCT module also. If i get a hold of the radi omodule soon I can have a full functioning carPC that has no 'standard' harddrive. Everything will run from flash and It will have navi, cd, dvd, am, fm. The mp3's will be on another USB drive. Due to the size of the maps in IG3 ill only be able to put about 6-7 states of data on the flash. (unless I upgrade) Anyway having a great time with this hobby still. Im going to pull the unit out of my car for a week or two (and reinstall the 'blah' OEM radio) while I deploy the embedded OS and complete the new software. Im also upgrading the screen when its pulled. Heres that hardware i picked up today.

Oh man that is hot. What exact hardware are you running now and what drivers are you using if you don't mind listing them. Can't wait for you to get a final version of this!
