I've decided that I'm going to make something like this with the chassis from mechatroniks and a pico-itx board. I'll post a link to the progress if you want.
I've yet to get some parts though

Can anyone recomend a camera for mount in trunk keyhole? Who fit in there. Anyone done that maybe?
I did read one article by "TacoBill" at mustangforums.com. He did mount a cam for his dvd stereo in there, and that looked great!

Greetings all. Just thought I'd chime in and say Blk02si, amazing thread. Very inspiring. I stayed up the other night and read the entire thing from beginning to end... today I ordered all of my components to put together my first carPC. I plan on ordering a custom case from you (hope you still do that). I'll be mostly stealing your exact design. Plan on making an embedded XP install and running it off of a CF IDE card.

I have a 2005 mazda 3. Took my dash apart today to measure everything. I'll need a case that's just slightly smaller than your standard design and I'll be using it upside down to make it fit. I'll be making up a plan in autocad within a few days then I'll prob be asking you for a quote.

Until then, hey everybody. You all have converted another carputer geek.

Welcome supyo, glad to see we have another member on board! Let me know about your plans and hardware for your project, I can produce one to fit your mazda.

Hey everyone I just wanted to post some pictures of the finished product, I took a trip to Kentucky this past Christmas.

The GPS worked the day before I left but did not work when I hit the road. For some reason it wouldn't connect, I tried XPort but that didn't seem to work either.

Well anyway I'd like to thank you blk02si and everyone else in this thread for all of your help along the way with the project.

Looks awesome Greg!! Love your stang interior, and that "my color" dash option.

Hopefully you get the GPS issue solved, probably like a loose connection or something.

Zach, I am always around here, best way to get a hold of me quickly is email.

joe dot shock at gmail dot com

To get your order in production you can paypal me.

In any event I had 3 orders come in right before xmas and I am working on your guys chassis and will have them out as soon as possible. They are all cut, just need bending and final finishing. This week has been crazy busy for me with holiday obligations. Not to mention my shop has been closed over the holidays so the orders are taking a bit longer than usual. Its all good though, you guys can start your 2008 off right with a quality carPC build

Great work... now what you have to do is setting your RoadRunner as shell in windows and you will boot faster and directly in your frontend... good luck with GPS tho...

I knew when I ordered it would take a bit. I should have ordered it Christmas eve, just to be an @$$. Quality takes time! and I have patience.

Frigor, do you have any links or good reference material for those of us who don't know what a windows shell is?
...shotgun shell, clam shell....
shells and cheese...
I used to date a girl names Mitchelle...
