So far I have been very pleased. I think I'm going to bring the IR sensor through the bottom of the bevel, so I can adjust the monitor if necessary without moving all the buttons. Anyhoo, I'll edit this post when I get my work log started and link to that.

I just contacted up mini-box to ask them that question as I was hoping on using the M3 for Intel's new motherboard. They pointed me to this http://www.mini-box.com/4-Pin-P4-Power-Cable_2 Which is a molex to 4 pin 12v adaptor. Hope this helps.

Well the M2-ATX has that P4 connector but is of course much larger than the M3. You can always use a hard drive style molex to P4 plug adapter coming off of the M3's HD connectors...

I have a bunch of the P4 style connectors so I could just solder one into the M3's output. Just got to make sere there is enough juice on the 12v rail. I shoudl be fine since I picked up an 80gig laptop drive for the media. It runs on 5v.

If you end up using that pico, you will be fine. If you use a mini-itx, the M3 will be a bit on the low side (generally speaking).
Have you checked out the Commell 3.5" boards? Maybe too expensive for what you are trying to do, but nice none-the-less. I have the LS-372 and I use the DSX12VD PSU that has just the P4 connector with no big ATX 20pin.

Blk,
It looks like I'm going to go this route for my carputer. Unfortunately I don't have the time (and probably not the patience) to fab an "OEM" looking carputer. If I were to construct my own, I would want it to be a replica of yours (at least as much as possible). The only differences I have is I would need a transflective screen and I have a 5 channel amp (not sure how you have your amps set up). If I were able to send you my factory stereo, do you think it would be possible to build one of your creations for me? Right now I'm still in Iraq for another few months. If I'm not too far down the list, I could have a friend pull my stereo out (since the ole jeep is just sitting in the garage) and send it to you.
My plan is to have the jeeputer installed before I made a long journey from Florida to Texas to Ohio, and back to Florida (at $4 a gallon!!!) after my return from the desert.
Let me know either way! Thanks for everything you do here!!

@TxAxZxZ
What you propose is definitely possible to build in a 3 month window. Having a factory stereo would be perfect, I can make the PC to the same dimensions. The transreflective screen would up the cost a bit since they are approx. 2x the cost of a non-transreflective, but would be the best route for a drop top jeep. I would be willing to put some other projects on hold to build this for someone defending the USA. (I love my country)
I am interested in this, please email or PM me to discuss the details of the hardware.

I appreciate it Blk! I figured on the transflective being doubled...so far the cheapest I could find one was $650.
A PM is on the way!!
Thanks again!!

I actually have one of those myself, albeit a digital one using microsoft Excel, but it works the same never the less.
Just for you rdholtz:

Thanks Joe, It makes the time pass by.
That is good news about the seagate. Hopefully your theory about it being faster than the CF drive is correct.
I emailed my buddy about sending you my head unit. I should hear something back tonight. I'll PM you a better list tonight as well.
