Wow, that's a nice short-timer's calendar. Your draft board is much better-looking than the old farts on mine were. Funny -- now I'm old enough to be on the draft board . . .
In the jungle war, we didn't have the Internet, or email, or even very good snail mail. Trans-Pacific calls were rare, and generally for emergencies. Our short-timer's calendars were "xeroxed" copies. We usually had something like a map of the U.S., or of our home state, or Vietnam, with lines that divided the map into as many pieces as the days of our tour (Army, Navy and Air Force: 12 months; Marines: 13 months). We'd mark off or color in the days as they went by, just as your calendar does electronically. We definitely didn't have pictures of draft board lovelies. Actually, I had two short-timer's calendars -- one for the first year, and the second for a five-month extension. And, from about six months on, I could always tell you how "short" I was, to the day.
No matter what you're doing over there, thanks again for doing it. Guys from my era of warriors may not say much about it, but we respect your service. You stood up when the call came, said "I will", and headed off to do whatever was asked. We know that takes guts, and we're grateful. I'm proud to call you brother.
blk02si, thanks for letting us hijack your thread for a bit. Back to you.

Got this in the mail today, drive works great, seems quite fast data with transfer in my initial tests through USB and IDE. It also passed the boot test so its will work as an OS drive.
Shown here in the male IDE>CF adaptor.

I'm not sure yet, I'm going to install an OS on it and see how it runs and compare it to the CF. Even though this drive is an actual hard disk I think it will still benefit from running XPE on it so the OS doesn't attempt to write to the platter when there is some potholes about to be hit at 50mph

I agree with you...I like the idea of still being able to do hot shut downs and not have to worry about the OS getting corrupted.

Hey Joe,
I had been inquiring about purchasing one of your aluminum chassis back in late may/early june.
Well, believe it or not I was sent to Jail for 30 days for speeding on my Motorcycle last summer. I was leaving a nightclub in DC and heading up the BW parkway to my house late at night. I did not know I was being pursued, and when I slowed down due to deer on the roadway I was overtaken. I got out last week. It was quite a shock, but its finally over with and I am now free.
Anyway, I see that you are now selling complete bolt in carputers utilizing your chassis. Have you determined a final price for these? I'm still looking at ordering from you, but this really has me interested in getting a complete system from you.
Keep up the good work, and if you have any additional info on the specs/final price let me know.

Hey Minoritydan,
Glad to see you back in action! Sorry to hear about your luck. I do remember our conversation and was looking back at our PM's. I am still building the first production machine but can get you a chassis right away. I'm holding off on building any more at the moment because I have the new production machine + TxAxZxZ has hired me to do his build so I will be occupied with those for awhile.

No problem. I'm still not quite sure If I want to go with the chassis and build it myself or get a production machine/hire you to build one. I'll probably work on replacing all the speakers in my car for the time being and in a couple weeks get back to see how you're doing with your current workload.

Hey Xargon,
No I did not try the short cable yet- I sourced the connectors to do the job but looked at a few pinouts of the LCD controller but there was conflicting diagrams and some of the pins were unknowns. So I didn't want to take the chance of burning up my controller to try it out. Hopefully, as these newer LED monitors come out more information will be available on the connector pinout.
The Chyrsler JK project has begun Here a pic of my starting point in autoCAD.

I dont want to steer the thread into a diffrent way, but Im curious as to how i can find a company that does the stuff you do (making custom brackets for the PC). After changing my setup so many times I have finally decided to put the PC in between my seats in the second row and build a center console. The middle row has this metal frame so I have to incorporate it into my build. I dont know how to use autoCAD, even though I do have it on my WorkStation.
From what I have been reading, if i do learn autoCAD, all I do is make a 3D PC version of the object and then I put that into the cutting machine and it makes it for me? Is this currect?
