Hey Joe,

I just read through this 45 page thread of yours...pretty impressive stuff.

First off I'm very new to the Carputer thing (I have been working on computers professionally for about 9 years though). I'm very interested in getting one of your carputer cases in the next month. I have an 07 Mustang. I've seen a few different prices listed in this thread so the first question is how much are they going for now (with the HDD mount and screw holes tapped).

Next up I'm looking to put the new Intel Atom 230 in there (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121342
) Will this fit?

I've been looking at several different screens and I'm a bit unsure which one wil give me the best bang for my buck. I've been looking at all the XENARC and Lilliput models but I'm not sure what fits, which one has teh best touchscreen, what looks brightest, and what has the least glare. Opinions whould be great.

Any chance I can send you the XENARC (or whatever screen I go with) and have you glue it all together for me? If you can how much and what kind of turnaround time are we talking about?

-Marc

@mdan, Nice find on the SATA flash, I may order a small one to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

@csurfer, I use the Visteon HD-ZOOM for HD, I bought 2 cables from mitchjs. They work great so no reason to engineer my own when mitch makes them for a fair price.

@Kalenth, which components exactly are you referring to?

PS- I figured out how to do internet connection sharing on my blackjack and got this old dell laptop online, I actually cannot believe how fast the internet is using the ATT 3G network.

Sorry, what have ya'll been finding in prices on the HD receiver? That and an amp are the last parts to the system, and I'm trying to find a good deal.

I am currently fighting iguidance to figure out how to get it to run with the map data on the root of C:, and not on the DVD.

Just copy the files to the drive, take out the cd and install it from that directory on the drive. Voila. It will now run from the HDD.

Just bought my HD receiver from Ebay, for $67.00. If you don't want a whole lot of power in the amp department I found a really tiny unit, Ultra Linear UL204AB measures only (Heat Sink Dimensions: 100mm x 42mm x 110mm), will be installing this weekend will see how it sounds.

Joe,

I measured the openings in Both cars and Both of them will fit your case, so I'd like to order one. I think you are out till the 17th, so I'll send you the money shortly thereafter.

I have a slight issue with how to mount in in my 95 accord. After taking off the dash trim, the old radio was just sitting there not physically bolted to anything, and the metra it is essentially only a face plate, it won't be able to bolt to anything as well, so I may have to use some L brackets to mount the case to the car.

On the otherhand, it looks like my 95 altima would be perfect for your case since the stock radio system bolts nicely to the car. Only problem is my Altima has 248K miles on it and my Accord has 121k.

I'll put up some photos to illustrate this later. But anyway, let me know when you will be back and I'll get you the money for the case (maybe I'll just order 2 so I can have it in both cars.) Heading to the beach, so I won't reply till monday or sunday night.

Lindy and Dan, Your orders went out USPS this morning.

Thought I would share a few pics of TxAxZxZ's build, I am using the new Xenarc 706TSA monitor which I purchased from the mp3car store. So far this monitor is great for installing. Much better than previous generations in that aspect. Everything is one one board, convenient mounting features, high res, anti glare, DVI input. It has a remote input box which will actually be good in this build since the jeep jk has no where near the space the mustang has. Please keep in mind there is no trim ring and the screen is not mounted yet, I am just test fitting things to see the best route.

Hey Tragik, I responded to your email.

Here are some more pics of the JK build, I'm considering starting a new thread since this one is getting so large.

I machined a 0.15" aluminum bezel for the monitor, and brushed it for a nice finish. It can be painted, powder coated or left raw, all look really nice. The most important thing though is this part is STRONG. It is thick and it is rigid, I may have outdone myself on this one.

The monitor still has the protective wrapping on it.

Tested the xenarc monitor a bit today, It has quite an array of features. I am going to place the IR sensor somewhere on the bezel so the remote can be used when installed. Needed to order a longer ribbon cable for the switch / IR PCB so i just sort of taped it in place for now. The cable it came with is 2", so I ordered a 6". This monitor has advanced settings like PIP of your sources, which can come in handy when you have multiple sources. Monitor can go all the way to 1280 x 1024 res but 1280 x 768 is near perfect for high res and aspect ratio. For standard carPC'n though I would run 800x600 which these pics are. Also noticed the stand alone input box runs very warm on this monitor. Has a nice feature called "mirror" which lets you rotate thye display so this unit can be installed up or down in the dash since the mounts will allow either ! Pics are shown of the unit running "upside down" for ease of hookup. A handy feature if you roll the jeep TxAxZxZ

Cool! With the mirror feature I can watch episodes of 24 and The Unit while I'm waiting for help to flip me back over.

This is coming out way better than I expected Joe. You are Da Man!!
