Looks to me like it will be easier... As long as you get the factory nav bezel!
Honestly though ford is doing this with all their cars, integrating the radio into the dash where it becomes impossible to use a trimkit to upgrade the stereo. I've already written a letter to them on what a horrible idea this is. Not only for the carPC factor, but what if someone just wants to upgrade the radio to a standard DIN or DD model? What they are doing looks complicated and expensive to manufacture and assemble. The interior of a car (espically the radio portion) is what sways me one way or another to purchase. Unfortunately for Ford I will be looking elsewhere for a more standardized radio area in my next car selection.

I dont think that matters to them. At this point they really want to turn a profit. I think they would rather have you take the car into them, have them take out the radio, and put in one of their upgraded radios. Also from alot of designs of cars I have seen, they all have this funky layout. Maybe the Dodge Challenger will have a more basic setup? At this point though, I am scared that Chrysler and GM are not going to survive, so that means pretty soon finding parts is going to be a mission. Ford has already said their not in to much trouble, not like the others.

Hi, I'm planning to put a carpc in my new ford focus, but the built-in stereo has a strange oval form, and I don't know if your could make a frontal with this form and a box to contain a carpc... if you need a photo of the frontal part, please ask for it and I will post.

Hello Hammerhead, post up a pic or email me one, I'm pretty sure I know which model you are referring to but a picture always helps. What you need is within my range of fabrication, I use a CNC machine so a perfect oval is not a problem. Also for the thread viewing pleasure here is a custom chassis I just finished for another member, its going into a Saturn. This model features an adjustable ITX motherboard shelf, It can me moved 1" up and down, and 1" in and out making for easy installation. Also the middle shelf can be flipped over resulting in just under 2" of adjustability. This was done via horizontal machined slots in the shelf and vertical machined slots in the chassis. 6-32 screws with lock nuts hold the shelf in place. This one is custom made from a google sketchup file. Cannot wait to see the pics of this machine installed!

Only the owner will know that their PC parts are grounded to strong lightweight thermally efficient epoxy coated aluminum
Looks aside, one of the biggest mistakes I see newbs making is not properly grounding components to one another. In my experiences a PC system is much more stable when all grounds are referenced at the same point.

Wow, keep up the good work. Everything looks amazing!
I'm curious if it would be possible to purchase just the bezel that you used for one of your builds. I am drifting towards a laptop(preferably macbook) so I wouldn't really need the entire chasis. As long as the bezel could hold a liliput securely and bolt right in, I would be happy. Then I can easily run a vga cable to a laptop dock.
Please let me know!!

In reference to the 2010 I've seen kits that replace the integrated radio face. The factory nav panel would probably look best but I'm sure the bezel manufacturers will step up. Also on the 2010 it sure makes my 2006 interior look inferior. Too bad Ford screwed up the rear end of the car otherwise it looks great IMO.

Anyone has builded a custom case for a Liliput 619 to be installed on the square space available in the center of the dash of a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee ? The case should be "flip up and down" . I mean in the red rounded space of the following picture:

That's is one sweet looking ford interior! I'm guessing you are across the pond? Ford never brings the good stuff to America even though it's an American company! Just don't understand. I guess my first question is do you want to keep the factory buttons? Just put a VGA screen in the middle? Seems lie a really nice system to start with. If you want to replace the entire unit I would suggest working jointly with me and nexon, I will do the chassis and have nex work the front bezel if you want it contoured. If you want a brushed aluminum plate with screen provisions that's the kind of bezel's I do.

Awesome Jack!!! That went together rather quickly! I'm a firm believer in a little planning goes a long way, and this is a perfect example. A bit of foresight works very well when building a bolt in PC. I'm heading over to your thread to check it out.
