If you want to replace the entire unit I would suggest working jointly with me and nexon, I will do the chassis and have nex work the front bezel if you want it contoured. If you want a brushed aluminum plate with screen provisions that's the kind of bezel's I do.
Sorri blk02si, my wife didn't want to wait so I buyed a WINCE 5.0 pre-fab system ...
I am from spain, the image below is the look of my ford now...
In a few months I'm going to change my old car (this one is for my wife) and then we will talk as long as I know you can help me...

I could cut that shape for the bezel from .2" aluminum sheetstock, brush finish to look techy. I would need the plastic dash part, or a *very* accurate drawing or autoCAD file to cut it out.

MAJOR UPDATE!
Got my new truck yesterday, 2008 V8 Dakota Laramie 4x4. It is SWEET!! 305hp 320Ft. Lbs Torque. Picked it up with 4 miles on it Got a really good deal as the dealer is trying to off all the 2008 stock to make room for 2009. It's the first truck I've owned but I really like it. This morning I woke up with 4 inches of snow on the ground so I got to mess around in 4 wheel drive, gotta say much better than driving the Mustang in the snow.
I've already begun planning for the carPC install I have the PC/flash/OS/ already done but the screen mounting will need to be done. I have the same radio as the JKPC seen in earlier threads, so the fab will be easy as all the CNC files are already done I am going to get a newer LED lit screen for the new build. I will take a lot of pics of the new build, and the new truck, and will most likely start a new thread BOLT IN V.2 as this one is getting quite large.
Ironic that this all this came to materalize in the final hours of 2008, this has been a very interesting year and I will be glad to start 2009 with a fresh new car and fresh new PC.
To everyone else HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

CONGRATS on your new truck Blk! If i was the betting kind, i would have lost a lot of money; I thought for sure you would get something (like a F150)where it would be easy to drop your old CarPc into. Should have know you would go for a challenge.
I did get me one (a 2005 F150) to play with. So i got to go back to the beginning of this thread and start reading. It came with a bad-a$$ AV system but the HU got to go.

Thx treeptop! I really do like the f150, problem is my local dealers sold out all the 2008's and only have 2009's which have no rebates, the non LCD friendly dash, and large sticker price. I would have bought a 04-05 f150 used but my wife talked me out of it. Also this truck has 77% American parts content and final assembly was done at a plant about 20 minutes away from my house. Doesn't get more American than that! Gotta support my country and the people that work here.
With the age of my PC parts approaching 3 years, I figured it was time to upgrade anyway.
The parts still work great, just want to play with some new stuff, esp the LED backlit LCD.

About a 2002 Ford Escape assembly...
Do you have any idea how large the opening is in a 2002 Escape? 1.5 DIN or 2 DIN? I have ( I believe ) the MACH audio - 6 disc changer. It looks just like this one on eBay:

Looks like double DIN to me from the pics. Are you looking to build a bolt in for the escape?

Yeah - i'd like to make something that can be easily undone. If I sell the car, I want to be able to move it back to stock.

WAIT...... So you went from Mustang to F150? Thats a drastic change. I did the same thing though, went from a old 84 944, to a Jeep Grand Cherrokee, then to this truck.

Not with out some modifications. The bezel is not made for that year escape. I'm not saying it won't work, but it will not be "bolt-in"

Nope I went from a 06 ford mustang to an 08 dodge dakota. I wanted to buy new and the 09 fords are top dollar, got a steal on this 08 dakota. I finally got my 4x4 V8 to play in the snow. Hopefully I will have this paid off early, so I can just own it and use it when necessary. I already am thinking about what car to get next, however I want to own a truck so I took the plunge.

HAHAHAHA, im so blind, I just realized that your icon is a Dodge Dakota. How do you like it? I hated the Dakota and Durango when Dodge sent them down different design paths on the 05 Dakota and 04 Durango. The 05 Dakota was so ugly. The 08 has better looking headlights, which makes it look better, but I still hate that blocky design.

The design is ok, it's grown on me. ALl trucks share the same basic design, for me it's all about utility. I just went with the best deal I could get since this is the first NEW vehicle I purchased. Last 3 have been leases.
The real reason I bought a truck though is for days like today, I could care less what it looked like but care very much about the V8 4x4 since it's been snowing all day and there is about 8" of fresh snow on the ground. The mustang would have been parked indefinitely, but the truck; out all day Took the wife out to the movies even. This thing just launches from a stop in deep snow, barely spins a tire, it just goes.
Anyway Just a FYI, the screen and chassis from this build have been sold to a fellow Michigander and are no longer available. Did one more test burn before packing for shipping. I will miss you Xenarc!!

Gratz on the new ute blk02si, it almost has as much power as my car lol. But I'm sure it would go heaps better in the snow. It never snows here though so I can't be exactly sure
I really like the idea of you double din cases and the design looks very good but I wanted to know if you or any of your customers have had any problems with the pcs heating up in the case? The case looks like it has pretty good ventilation but the double din space is still fairly small for a pc to be enclosed in. I know aluminum has favourable properties for this task but does it stay cool even after hours of usage?
Even if it does stay cool I would like to add a fan just for peace of mind. Where do you think the fan could be placed?

Welcome Nosajs,
The fan could be placed anywhere you desire, I custom fabricate the case and can machine 1 or more holes to fit any size fan. If you build using efficient hardware, LED screen, small form factor, etc, heat is not an issue at all. My setup never overheated, not even once, not to mention that more recently available hardware runs even cooler.
