Here is the bezel with the tabs... i think with this design you will not be able to use the cup holders if you have them, you would have to remove them and put the filler peice, (unless you want to tape or velcrow it in)...

We need to see it fitted into the dash... how the monitor looks... Instructions on how to install it... Im still not sure where these tabs snap into the radio cage...?

The product looks good though be we need to see if functionally...

I would pay ~$60 not ~$100. That's too high imo...

Not trying to screw anyone out of money...

Because of the price ive decided to do it myself and realize that its time consuming....more or less i was trying to say that you would probably sell alot more at ~60 than you would at ~100.

man - if people only knew what all went into this kind of thing..

it amazes me how people want to screw others out of money all to save themselves some dough...some people wouldn't be happy untill they were flat out GIVEN the piece AND money to go along with it!

That is a ridiculous statement. Its pretty obvious whats involved as almost the whole procedure has been laid out with pictures. Screw him out of money? Also ridiculous. Me saying i think the price is to high isnt going to stop anyone who was willing to pay it in the first place.

we are saying you are a cheap bastard.. and that the piece is definitely worth the $100.. especially if you even remotely consider the amount of work put into this...

EDIT: no offense meant.. i was just trying to put it all in perspective...

You are out of your mind, you can get a piece like this CNC'd for less than $100. Im not saying he hasnt spent a lot of his own money with trial and error making this, but I would be hard pressed to say its worth >=$100. Especially since we havent even seen it in action yet.

Usually people charge 2x what the the piece costs to make and that is a fair retail model to follow.

But to each their own.

That is not true. Belkin cables cost about $1.38 wholesale, but CompUSA sells them for $22.99. Yes you could get one made for under $100 I'm sure, but you would need to make the model first, or design it on a PC. The cost of the unit should factor in not only the materials for the produced units, but also any costs incurred during R&D (materials, time, etc.).

I think the $100 price is about right. Some people will always think it is too high, and some think it is the deal of the century. The manufacturer can charge whatever he wants, if the price is not right, the market will show this and then can be adjusted accordingly.

I will spend about 15+ hours fabbing my lcd housing. If I figure my time is worth $20/hr, then I have invested $300 plus materials.

So, would I pay $100 for a nice lcd bezel? YES.
Will some people think it is too much? YES
Will some people think it is just right, but still make their own? YES

Capitalism at it's finest. The invisible hand will sort this all out once he starts selling them...

P.S. My double din kit for my car costs $80, and it is just a hunk of ABS plastic. Probably cost $5 to make on a mass scale. Ah, America....

Yes you are very correct. Companies like Belkin sell their accessories at a very high markup rate because they are essential to running their other products, however you can get those SAME cables elsewhere for about $5.00.

R&D should definitely be recouped, but over how many units? 10? If so then it was not worth the work, 1000? Maybe.

It's all part of the business process. However since we are all enthusiasts I believe setting fair prices for each other is part of the game here. Not saying the man doesnt deserve some $$ for his work, but how much free knowledge do we share and take here? Should that be charged for too? If so I feel its worth MUCH more than tangible assets.

I agree the invisible hand will sort it all out in the end. Just throwing my .02 in thats all. It can be argued both ways.

@JudiGTI - Yeah, I see your point. He could charge less most likely, but we have no idea what his business model is. To give him a kudos though, he did offer to make or help me make one for my car, never mentioned any charges. We'll see when he starts selling them what the market determines is a fair price...

Look at the WRX housing, that probablt costs under $20 to make, but the sell for hundreds! I have seen many users buy them, but it seems pricey to me.

And I too am just throwing in my $0.02, plus I like to think my business degree taught me something! LOL

cheap bastard...

see theres the problem i have, i have the time to put 15 hours of fabrication in (even with 2 jobs) i dont really have the money to drop $100 on a bezel...im not a cheap bastard... other screen housings ~100 have a little more to it than this one.... almost all of the r&d was done for his own personal gain, now he just put it in plastic mold and got the color right...$100? Not my cup of tea, but like the above poster said to each their own.

About the cables, what a terrible comparison, you can get them almost at wholesale online, unless webdog plans on launching a retail store i dunno that he should charge retail prices...

and yes the price will be very market dependent...if no one wants to pay $100 it will go down to something more reasonable, but i got tired of waiting a long time ago and did it myself...good luck.

side note: im not attempting to discourage business or bash anyone or anything, just voicing my opinion, hey look, without name calling!
