Please Add to "How to Make Windows Boot Faster" - MS Bootvis

Hello Everyone,

New to the forums and have been reading a lot of information.

I noticed in the FAQ's the thread How to Make Windows Boot Faster, and i noticed that there was no mention of this handy utility - Bootvis.

You can download it from http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664

I first used this tool a few years ago on my AMD machine, and it drastically reduced my bootup time, so it should be handy to use for our carpc's

I found a good writeup of the software here if you want more information - http://articles.techrepublic.com.com...1-5034622.html

however if you just want to get down and dirty and do it.

Then here is the quick steps.

(you may want to take note of how long bootvis says your pc takes to start for a comparison.)
Download and install bootvis on your PC/carputer.

open up bootvis and select File | New | Next Boot + Drivers Trace
click ok on the box that comes up, it will count down from 10 and restart
Let your system restart and bootvis will open automatically with the results
If you want to understand the results view the above website with the writeup, otherwise click
Trace | Optimize System

It will reboot and do its thing and let you know when its done.

If you want to compare how much quicker it is, close and reopen bootvis and select File | New | Next Boot + Drivers Trace
and take note of the time it says that it took to boot.

Hope this helps someone out

Cheers

Wow...I remember bootviz...from 15 years ago!
I do hibernation on my carputer, so I think this is probably useless for that.
