That is an option and others have had luck with it, others have had nothing but trouble, some people use a tank circuit. Search the power supply forum for more information on these.

Can I ask a dumb question please?

What would happen if you were to hook up the soundcard straight to your speakers? I.e., no amp, no headunit, just carPC and speakers?
