Yes but then you cant easily revert back to stock... its better to make a new harness...

The left side of the car is connected to the left and the right is connected to the right, no y spliter needed.

Good luck, But I might just say spend the xtra $20.
Thanks to you guys for posting this up and going through all the mess so we/I do not have to!!!! I am gonna be picking up these parts soon and testing it out with a simple portable player or laptop before implementing the rest.
I am sure I will be in touch or have questions when I see a waff of smoke and nothing works anymore. Dang VW gnomes.

Im planning on using this to connect to my monsoon amp. I am going to be using two of the three outputs (one for front left and right, and one for back left and right). I figure I will have better fade/balance control doing it this way. How do I go about injecting the power into the system now, because there will be two lines and four RCA's instead of the one line and two RCA's? I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Hey, I was just going by what it said on the link you posted to the Griffin site - "Preorder for $99". Sounds like it's out now, though!

You scared me haha...
I hope I didn't gove the wrong impression, as I wasn't being cocky but just stating a fact.
Thankss Guys
PS I am assuming that I just need two RCA jacks on each side of the homeade device, and that the power now just goes to four of the negatives not two correct? Thanks.

Oh and also couldn't you just use this up in the front of the vehicle too? Then you could just use the existing factory wiring...no electrical noise from running audio lines all the way back. Correct me if I'm wrong...

How loud is the monsoon adapter? A lot of this depends on how load your soundcard will go. I never tried to see how loud it would go, but I could easily get it louder than I wanted with not much volume from the PC volume control. I don't have it installed right now, so I can't check. I never tested the max from my stock headunit. But it didn't strike me as much different while using it.

I am getting more and more confused by the moment...I built one and have noise through some of the speakers. I only have one ground loop isolater right now (I need two as I am doing four channels instead of your four) and went out to test with just the front, then just the back speakers. There si noise throughout the car, I think it is alternator....will thsi be fixed when I get another ground loop isolater and play all of the speaker simaltaneously?
Also, can't a low wattage amplifier do the trick too?
Thanks.
Nevermind that all......I got another ground loop isolator and the clicking problem is solved. BUT.....I feel like this has major sound quality issues compared to my head unit.

Could be. Most computer soundcards aren't the best quality.

Sorry for all of these questions and everything, but I'm really upset ths isn't working out the way I planned. For some reason, it sounds like the audio is clipping just a little bit. It is comparable to the sound you hear when you turn on a preset like "bass booster" in iTunes. I made sure every EQ was off, but it still sound not so good. I have tried my laptop soundcard, my Griffin iMic, and my iPod and they all have the same sound quality issues. Can anyone guess where the problem is or tell me why this is happening from a technical standpoint?
Also, doesn't the monsoon amp take speaker level imputs, whereas what is coming out of the soundcard is line level? Thanks.
