Fusion Brain and Window Contorls
Maybe i'm thinking this is too complicated but how would you hook up window controls? Would it just be a digital output connection? I don't know too much about car circuitry but does the resistance just increase as the physical resistance increases so the window stops trying to go up when its already at its maximum height?

heh. i'm just gpoing to tag along with you.
i was wondering the same thing but was just gonna wait until i got it. is it possible for the outputs to act as a momentary switch?
actually i know the answer is yes since i have seen the air ride posts and whatnot. in for explanation.
*edit - just found the answer in a thread i had not seen before. the outputs are configurable to act as momentary switches, meaning power is only output while you are pressing the button. so basically you would just run the output through a relay and connect the 12v to the window motor, 1 for up, 1 for down. not sure how a negative switched setup would work, but they are less common.

For a negative based setup, you would use two relays to trigger your window down switch. As if when you're engaging the relay, you're pressing the switch on your door panel.

and for automated windows, put a current sensor on the motors. When current draw gets to about 150% of normal, it is fully up or down, so turn off output.

Maybe its my lack of experience with car electronics but i'm slightly confused. So for window control you would need relays for both up and down operations? I assume this is because the window circuitry is a high current circuit? And negative the switched setup has completely confused me.

yes you would need 2 relays per window for most setups. Also 1 current sensor for each window you want to "auto"

I would use load-sensing relays...they'll latch on until the load spikes, then shut off automatically. This way you don't need a feed-back loop into the Fusionbrain, just a pulse output...
Alternatively, you could use a Directed (DEI) 530T power window kit...
It'll control 2 windows both up and down...
When I get my HVAC setup in my front end, I plan on having the PC ask me if I want to roll the windows up when it senses I've turned on the A/C...
Maybe even a voice command to roll them up or down too?
Or speed sensitive roll up? The faster I go (monitoring GPS speed), the further the windows close, to limit noise and buffeting...

Well first things first, do you want auto-up and auto-down. If yes, do your current window switches provide these functions? If yes, hook the relays up to the window switches, itll cost you almost nothing. If no, then you need to do current sensing and then things become a hassle...

I'm thinking where i'm confused is the car circuitry itself. I've never really looked into how the windows actually go up and down. I just assumed it was a motor pulley system or something of that nature. maybe i should research the car end a little more

Does anyone have any sort of wiring diagram cause i'm just not able to see how these relays are going to be connected to the fusion brain and control the windows. If i'm understanding this correctly there is one motor and reversing the polarity on the motor determines whether you are going up or down. I would think i'd need two relays for up and two relays for down but maybe i'm just way off. Any insight anyone?

First of all, this is doesn't belong in "Documentation and Tutorials"
You need either 4 SPST relays for each direction and each window, or 1 DPDT relay for each direction/window.
We only sell SPST relays on our site. You probably should pick up a DPDT relay on your own, and use the 2-pin cables we sell to hook it up.

I don't know if all cars are like mine but I'm sure most are. The switches all short to ground in center pos. Each wire going to the motor needs to be cut after the switch. Switch to N.C. side of relay, and motor to the sweep thing on the relay. That way it's like it's not there when not in use. Then the N.O. side goes to battery. Energize the relay and it gives power to the motor and the other side is already grounded through the other relay through the switch. If you have express down, you need to patch in after it. You must make the cut on the wire going to the motor.
Here's a schematic:

Ok from looking around at a few websites and a datasheet i finally understand how this would work with the DPDT relay. I apparently was thinking of it as a SPST and in that case i would need 4 for up and 4 for down. Thanks everyone

Automotive SPDT will work fine. 2 for each window. 1 for up. 1 for down.
