Uber MDX Configurator Beta Testing...

I have been working very hard the past couple weeks between jobs and school and have come up with this. It is the beginning to a new configuration utility for the Fusion Brain. It will be fully compatible with Uber MDX Edition, which will be released within the month I hope. It is almost fully backwards compatible with Uber XNA.

Right now I am just looking for some feedback, good or bad. What you like, or dislike. What you want to see added, or what you feel is not neccessary. Currently programming is going along at a painfully slow pace. If there is anything I have learned from the Skin Designer of Version 2, it is that most people do not think like me! People do not see what I see, and therefore cause errors by doing things the program wasnt able to handle.

In this version, I am trying to really protect it. Therefore, please try to break the program!!! I think that everything that is functional now is fairly well secured. Everything is mostly double verified (once leaving/saving the info and another time when parsing it back into the global lists). So please try to make it error. And by error I mean "An exception has occurred, please click here to close the program and send the report to microsoft" or something of the sort. Something that kills the program.

Please report back anything you find here.

Creating, Opening and Saving of files is working. Logic is working. Graphics are working. Just need to update the help sections, and add font and text as well as multi-images and rotate-images. Then it will be done! mwahahahahaha.

If you currently own a Fusion Brain, I urge you to try the Auto Search feature in the Fusion Brain adding menu. I have tried to make it more compatible.

Also you should see lots of help buttons. Well they dont work.... yet. I have to still write the documentation. But having a bunch of lonely buttons will make me more inclined to do so.

So to sum up, please let me know your thoughts or concerns about this, as well as any errors you encounter. You should only need the exe, and the 2 communication dll's (same as for Version 2 software and above).

I have included a screenshot below of what you should see when you open it.

Download (Last Update - 23/05/2008 @ 2:15am MST): http://www.fusioncontrolcentre.com/M...nfigurator.exe

Also, on the left side, the bottom is the realtime textual output of the configuration file and the top left is the editing area. The things that only have 1 "instance" such as properties (your name, size of the application) can be edited by the top menu buttons versus things that can have multiple instances (Brain instances, Digital Output instnaces, Analogue Input instances, ect...) can be edited by the left top panel and added (new) by the top buttons.

Also if you are a graphics designer and want to help with the icons, let me know. I am no graphics designer!

It will work without a Brain attached. But you must enter a dummy brain ID then. I will not make it so that you can add items without a brain instance because that would get arounf my idiot-proofing.

But you can put in a name and then whatever you want for the ID. The only consequence is if you forget to change it to a proper value before you run Uber MDX main program, no communication will happen. It will constantly error out of its communication loop, and nothing will be sent or received.

Ok, Variables are now added and secured or so I hope.

Edit bar has been modified a bit to reflect the variables being added. Also the Functions and Font have been added to the edit area but are still not functional. Those are next on my list.

Download link is the same. I will just update the file on the server so the main link is easy to find.

I'd like to think so considering this isnt my full time job

I have added the ability to delete items now as well. You drag the items from the list area (top left section with big images) into the trashcan (top most menu bar, 3rd icon from the left) and it will delete the object (well it will warn/ask you first) and update the textual area, and eventually the graphics area.

I am now working on getting the underlying help system up and running. Documentation is a *****!

Also, Tim I am curious if the Brain identifying problem you had is because you were running XP in OSX or not... I have so far only tested on my Vista dev. machine, but it works like a charm here. Once I get the time I will try it on a XP machine though.

Download link updated.

You will now see 2 new files called "Help.xml" and "Help.xsd". Those files contain the help documentation so far. So far, help is complete for Adding a Fusion Brain Instance, Digital Output Instance, and Analogue Input Instance.

If you have suggestions please feel free to let me know.
