SOUND_goes to 100% when going from "media" to "dvd"
As it says. When you play mp3:s or videos in "media mode" at any volyme, and then start frodo dvd volyme instantly reaches 100%, whitch isnt especially good =P. it returns to whatever it was before when you exit frodo dvd though.
I've read about this somewhere else, and i think you know about it but since i ed and couldent find anything about what was done aboutit i thought it would be best to report it... Better report too many times than too few

whatever codec you are using doesn't have it's own internal volume control.

I used to have an AC3 codec (AC3Filter) that would mess with the volume. I don't know if you can get ahold of GraphEdit without the full DirectX SDK but just dragging a video into it will show everything that gets loaded including the codecs. That's the easiest way to find out what's going on.

I've downloaded the dx sdk (dxsdk_dec2004.exe) from Micro$ofts website... Can't find "GraphEdit" tool?

It should be C:\DXSDK\bin\DXUtils\graphedit.exe
Or easier, just get this: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=GraphEdit

But the problem accures even when not playing a movie. Just opening the program causes the volume to rise.
And graphedit doesn't seem to be albe to handle dvd movies?

You should be able to load the individual .VOB files into it or into WMP. I may be totally wrong, but it's worth a shot to see what codecs get loaded into the graph. You can then right-click on each one and hit Properties. Some have adjustments. Like the AC3 one can be bypassed for wave/mp3 and they won't mess with the volume. Some other codecs are just poorly written and need to be removed/replaced.

Oh that's odd. Mine goes through an MPEG splitter first, then to the MPEG decoder and AC3 decoder. I guess yours goes directly to the sound card from the DVD player or something?

I guess the audio is somewhere else. This is what usually see. The audio gets split and sent to this stupid AC3 filter:
