Is there a thread about this somewhere? I'd love to track your progress and teaser screen shots.

I'm trying to get my feet wet with this new communication tool, but I'm getting errors starting a couple of services (speech output and messages). I have every dependency installed as required, but still no luck. Any ideas?

Hey Frodo,
Just had a look at FrodoComm, what will this enable me to do programically that I couldn't already??? Will it say let me build a playlist database in say Frodoplayer from my own software? Or programatically control NaviVoice. I've had a look but can't see any immediate benefits.

For one, I think we can easily talk to FP and find out what it is currently doing. For example, we might get current track info to create a custom jpg that displays our last song on MP3car.com :-) And with the Volume plugin we can get access to the mixer and control it easily with and XML message. A program could control the various functions of FP without having to send key presses like we might be doing now.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I tried creating a sample volume program, but I get no ID response and then it simply crashes. Obviously this is related to the problem I mentioned earlier of not being able to load the post message plugin in FC services host.
I'm anxious to get a list of functions that are enabled with messaging. This looks like it will be very useful to me once things are documented.

It says FCClass is missing, which is a part of FrodoComm.
Make sure you installed the both links.
Exit out of the program.
Make sure it is dead and install the first link.
May need to reboot.
Note: the x button on the service launcher only hides the app.
To really exit, you must choose "Exit"

BTW, this is not just for FP, as long as the license agreements are followed,
it can be used in other apps as well.

I'm sure that both apps were installed previously, especially since I loaded the FrodoComm User Control into my AXcontainer, but I uninstalled both apps, rebooted, reinstalled them, and then rebooted. I still get the same errors. I've verified that many of your controls are registered, but I see nothing about FCClass.dll. This doesn't appear to be an ActiveX type control since I manually registered it and it still doesn't show up. How is this file accessed? Any other suggestions?

BTW, the "Help" and "About FSH" buttons give me an IE "page cannot be displayed" error, although I'm guessing this is simply because nothing exists for these buttons.

All of this stuff is transparent to normal users. What you will notice is how well different programs that we are using such as NaviVoice and FP are integrated. FrodoComm is simply to improve communication and integration between software programs. This will be very beneficial to all as developers start to use it.
