Skinning question

How do I change the colours in a skin (specifically febsperanza's brushed metal skin)?

Is it as easy as just taking the images in photoshop and changing the colours?

I want to change the blue backlighting in febsperanza's skin and change it to BMW amber.

Actually I just figured out that he has the PSD files on his website. I don't know how to use PS, but I'm learning and have changed the blue to amber in a few files. I'll post the results here if I ever get it done...
