RELEASE - FreeDrive 0.31 beta (D3 Frontend)

New in this version (0.31)
- CityID fixed, no longer errors if using a different map
- Label text fixed, no longer shows Label 2 on start up
- Menu loosing focus fixed
- No longer errors if My Favorites file is not there

I have released this update really for the menu focus its quite important I think..

I'm after some skins doing.. only should take 30 mins to do, quite simple. Also some requests if you dont mind. I will try and do as many as I can !

A quick how to skin would be usefull as well... I say this not having spent the time looking at one yet

Take a look at one of the skins. I only consists of 2 full screen JPG pictures, one for night the other one for night mode. Skin INI file only specifies coordinates of text elements shown. Its really simple.

yeah, dead easy, the only thing that might not be straight forward is the way VB uses colours.. I will if its causing to many problems build in a conversion function.. but as it stands, if you are using photoshop and the colour you want to convert is say 'DE230F' then to convert this, first you must reverse the pairs.. as below

DE230F (original photoshop value)
0F23DE (reversed pairs) this would appear then as F23DE as you drop the leading 0

you then convert this number (hex value) to a decimal value. I use the calc built into windows to do this (in sci mode)

so you end up with 992222 :-) easy

Will defo be doing some skins for this when I get back home

Just a thought though... was looking into doing you a logo for freedrive then came on the idea of shortening it to something like 3-Drive... kinda ties in with the D3 (sdk) innards and makes it a little easier to do a fancy logo for

Got a runtime error too, no. 13, type missmatch.
Changed the region settings to "UK" (Sweden, normally) and then the frontend would launch, but as soon as I click on menu >> address, I get the same error despite the UK region settings.

yeah I thought of '3drive' when I was thinking of names.. I'm not bothered either tbh.. any will do. Could do with a poll so peeps can choose.. either 'FreeDrive' or '3Drive'

I've done a temp fix on the current release, this will stop the error of changing maps.. just download the zipfix below, unzip and overwrite the freedrive.exe

That will sort it.. This link will only remain good till the next release.. although I might repackage the current release to contain this version

when i start Freedrive.exe i got error window:

Type mismatch

I use the new Map Monkey

Any idea?

Do you have a install guide for FreeDrive?
I cant find any link or info how to insall it

Hi, have you downloaded the FULL package, not just the fixzip ? Goto the freedrive website and download the 0.31 beta, this will install freedrive, if your using just one map then you wont need to fix it. :-)
