[update]
posted on post number #1 current progress of version 0.4
Its getting there, spent the last few days doing a keyboard thats ;
1. skinable (off and down)
2. re-sizable. FreeDrive auto-sizes the keyboard to fit the screen. You can also
place it where you want it to appear on say the address skin. This makes sure it
doesnt cover any other buttons you might need.
Bit of a ball ache to code, but its done and working great.. I've coded it for 46 buttons (only 38 used) so if you want you can add extra buttons to the UK keyboard.. I thought this would be handy for our non UK Friends :-). I've also added the down button action, so you know if its pressed or not.
I've just added a house button today and making the street button only appear when the selected city has streets in it. Saves pressing it and just getting a error.
Should be on track for a end of week release, thats if everything gos as planned.

Birdseye View
Free Dirive is awsome. Thanks for the great work. I have noticed that there is no Birdseye view in the settings like there is in Map Monkey. Are you planning on intergrating it in free drive?
Thanks

yeah hotkeys will come later.. like m - menu, c - cancel route, 2 - 2d, 3 - 3d.. u get the idea.. These will all be changable.
You can now add keys to the keyboard, there 8 free I think so plenty of space there for you non-english keyboard users.
Yeah I liked your logo, just not had much time, been busy doing the keyboard, my graphics arnt the best, but at least its now skinable, and it resizes with the form.
Just got the things like favs / history / save postion / add to favs screens to do, once done I will make sure its all working.. because I've added a shed load of stuff to the skins its only at present working on the default skin, I would at least like two skins being released with it, one touchmenu one normal. Anyway will see how I do tonight... O yeah got it routing to house numbers now :-) Well thats if there on the map, if there not, it just goes to the middle of the road. Its looking good. I will prob get this 0.4 release soon, then do a 0.41 for fixs + added stuff like birdeye view and stuff.
I've been thinking on where I want to go.. and what I want included in Version 1.0
I would like to intergrate speed cams, thats the next thing really, then voice input and also a record and play feature.. so you can track your position and save it to a file, then play it back in Freedrive with a video play style buttons, for rewind / fastforward etc.. this tracking could be set so it does it everytime FreeDrives started. It would be nice to link this to a modem (mobile) and give it instructions for it to dial out every 10 mins and pass on its long/lat coordanates. Anyway lets just get this version out and get it bug free first :-)

Is there a chance to see the street names in 3d or birdseye view? I have a Navman icn510 and it looks good with the 3d view and the street names.

This is not going to be an option, sorry I'm limited to what the SDK can do, and naming streets in 3d/bird mode isnt one of them :-( lets home SDK 4 might bring it..

I very much like the looks of your program. Especially the nice and very visible ETA en ETR readings.
However I also like the feaures MM is offering (the possibilty to add locations on the fly and so.)
Is there a possibility to combine your skin with MM? If so how can I do this
And what is the meaning of the numbers in the skin file which define the colors? How do a find the right number for bright red?

you need to find and load the maps yourself. Use the maps from destinator 3

yeah I am figuring out here that I need to "find" the maps.
If I like it I'll buy it, but there's no way I am buying the maps without trying Destinator with the maps I need.
