All right, I did a very short and very first test drive tonight with FreeDrive.
Having this said, I have to also add this was actually very first time for me to see any GPS in action.
Sooo... I took my laptop with docking station, hooked on cheap Deluo GPS receiver I have ready for the CarPC, battled with jumping mouse cursor a while, then I have been waiting like 5 minutes untill it locked satellites (man I can tell you there is -8deg. Celsius but it was really hot time for me) got 5 of 11 avail under front windshield - not bad I guess.
Anyway I have loaded Freedrive, patched, maps... fired it up, set the destination,started the engine,... and I wanna tell you

I WAS SO INCREDIBLY AMAZED WITH WHOLE THING that I almost totaled my car few times...

Two things I have observed anyway: speedo is not working for me somehow showing 65 kpm when I am on red lights and rundabout was announced 3 kms far from it (kinda strange to hear "continue on circle second exit in 3 km" on empty dark road in the middle of nowhere in deep woods

glad its all up and running.. I've fixed the sticking speedo needle :-) and expect a new update in the next few days.. major revamp :-)

BTW, working on my skin, I would like to know what is the way to change default look of destanator part - especially the scroll bar size/look and font properties of top and bottom destinator info bar.

EDIT: never mind, I think I found it. Now I have to find how to properly change it.

BUG here??

Today, I have realized strange thing, when I was planning routes to a different locations. Some even major cities I select from city selection dialog when I am in route planning mode seem not to contain any street names, despite the fact they are mostly major one, and actual map I see on the screen below the dialog with OSK has streets correctly shown and named. In other cases, clicking on city name gives me street list containg nonsences, such as list of 3 streets only, named: 121a, 324/5, 387. Some cities seem to have all streets listed, but still you can see "number names" on top of list. The list looks then for example, upon selecting Kladno town: 236, 7577, 7998, Alberovska, Armencu, Baltazara Kletika,...
The weirdest behavior was seen today routing to our capital city (Praha) which is listed by its districts in the list of available cities:
Praha 1
Praha 2
...
Praha Stresovice
Praha Zlicin
etc.
Clicking (selecting) Praha 1 results in error message popup dialog saying:
There are no available street names in Praha Stresovice
[OK]
Of corse, both Praha1 and Praha Stresovice contain dosens of named streets in the map.

So for me it lloks like there is some kind of adress database processing error in FreeDrive.
Can you tell me what is wrong?

Hi m8.. this is already fixed for the next release :-)

Bugs found so far
- Speedo freezes sometimes
- takes two attempts so embed in to media car
- overflow error on London streets
- Mapping to wrong city on spain maps

Version 0.4 Current progress
- Impoved code for GPS Speed, sats, heading
- Fixed Overflow error on Streets
- Fixed wrong city error, now shows correct streets for city
- Changed when and where FreeDrive sizes, should help embedding
- Converted heading degrees into text ie. 'NORTH EAST'
- Added Menu time out (set at 7 seconds)
- Keyboard now Skinable
- Address page now Skinable
- Fav / History page now skinable
- Improved City / Street Lists
- Added Menu button down action

Release should be this weekend

yeah sure give me a few mins.. just delete everything inside your freedrive folder.. skins included and unzip the soon to be attached file

hmm having probs with DNS servers here.. got two lines.. non are resolving names.. ffs. Ive you can let me know what ip homepages.nildram.co.uk resolves to I can get it uploaded for you.. Thank god mp3car's dns is cached
