CdR
I am running into the exact same problem. Running an 800 MHz Via C3 with 612 MB of Ram. Ran just great with FD 0.9, but even with the fade effects turned off, it chews up my processor so I am running at 100%. "If" i am able to click on a menu button, such as address, and I am away from the map view, the processor drops back down to where it should be.
FD 1.0 runs great on my Transmetta crusoe 1GHz in my tablet PC which is normally a kind of sluggish machine.

Same here I'm testing it on my laptop (1,2Ghz 1Gb mem) and when the map is in view FD is slow as hell (90-100% cpu usage) That is with the fadeeffects turned off. When I'm in another menu the performance will go up alot.

Heyo, two more little issues that I've noticed after a day of running errands. One is that every 3rd time I turn on the car FD crashes when it's trying to load. (It's set to load on startup). I haven't had a chance to pull the info on why it's crashing, but I'll try to get that today.
Secondly is another really small thing. Would it be possible to decrease the size of the direction arrows? Because the new skin has that text bar up top that tells you the details of your next manuver (a wonderful addition btw, it was way to small to be able to read before) it covers over the top bit of the signal arrow, and makes the arrow a bit hard to see what it is while I'm driving.
Thanks, and as always great program.

I tried uninstalling freedrive and deleting the destinator folder as well and reinstalling from scratch. still no luck from it. I have upgraded to the latest of all my drivers and flash (which I dont think you use) but seems to make no difference...

Noob here need help
First time using FD, I downloaded FD 1.0. The Fading effect does driving my cpu crazy, I can hear my laptop fans turning on and off every time I toggle the menu.
My main question is
How do you load your own map?

I notice that there's no OSK on the POI screen. So there's no way to search for a business by name?

New maps need to be placed in their own folder in the C:\DestinatorApps\Destinator directory.
In FD you can use the settings menu to change the map.

What's happened to the FreeDrive forums? It keeps asking for a username and password (my regular ones won't work)
