I just installed 1.0 and the update on my laptop to try it out. Even with fadeeffects turned off its horribly slow, and sits there at 100% cpu useage even when idle. Ram useage is 200/320MB which seems way high (nothing else running at all)

Compaq armada 110 P3 800 320MB ram XP pro SP1

I run 0.85 in my car on an AMD K6 350mhz and it runs awesome.I use the zdgrey skin embedded in RR. I would have absolutely no chance trying to run 1.0 on it...

Any ideas guys? I am hoping I dont have to stick with 0.85 as there is some awesome new features in this realease.

I dont know if it makes any difference but i am running the Q2 2005 Australia map set

I just had a bit more of a play with this and tried reverting back to my old 2004Q4 maps. It doesnt seem to make any difference.

What i have found though is that once you get rid of all the transparent buttons / labels etc (switch to full screen map mode) then it flies. Does it make sense that the transparent overlays would cause so much extra load?

Once im in full screen map mode everything seems to work great. The menus are really fast and routing is fine.

maybe i jsut need another skin??

download the beta release from the FD site and just overwrite the exe file, let me know how you get on

beta release? do you mean update1? I have anlready installed that.

I did have some luck updating my video drivers as someone else suggested but its still nowhere near as fast as it used to be

I tried to register today since I couldn't wait to get my hands on freedrive... did never get any mail though and even if I log in it says I have to be a registered user... Made another account to but didn't get any mail to that one either... I have checked all my junk-mail folders and no mail from your site anywhere...

You can change the font sizes in the skin.ini file. Look next to the lines starting with 'direction' and 'info'

I dunno if I am being totally stupid, but teh most current realese of FD that I can find on the FD Website is the FEb. 17th one. Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot
