I am a little shy to come with this idea, but if it could be done and would not reduce any performance on the music database and MP3 player, I would really use some kind of scratchpad...
the way I see it would be to have the keyboard module (plus numbers stolen from the radio part...) with a text, and you could enter a note into the note database. It could be your grocery list, a phone number, whatever. Then you could search in the notes (single field, wildcard search like in the search engine from the MP3 database) to retrieve it.
This way you could store phone numbers, plate numbers of those stupid taxi drivers for complaints, or whatnot. I know its kinda awkward to type while driving, but its better then writing .
I am not sure if this is a good idea, but it is something that I think I would use in the carputer if it would be implemented.
Anyway, there are a lot of other cool features that should go before this... the main idea of the frodoplayer is to be a multimedia player

Instead on on click() could you make it on release()
Frodo,
Is there anyway you could make ur program use on release() instead of on click() because right now it doesn't allow you second chance. What i mean by this is if i accidently click on restart or something, i can't jsut leave my finger on the touchscreen and drag it somewhere else so i wouldn't shutdown. Do u get what i'm saying?

Is there any way to disable tooltips? If not can you add an option for disabling tooltips?

Are there any plans to add embedded GPS support? I would love GPS integration with Mappoint. I would definetly make this my default media player, except for the GPS.
What do most of you use for externnal GPS Apps? Anyone use Mappoint and if so how do you launch.... Mappoint or a frontend like VOICES?

Anyway we can get some 800x600 stretched skins for Frodoplayer? This would be for all of us who can't run widescreen modes. I think you would just have to take your 800x480 and stretch them down in photoshop for 800x600. Therefore when you view it on your widescreen it looks perfect.

Before I do that, try running a 800x480 skin on your 800x600 screen, and tell me how it looks.

I just have it on my laptop right now, but i will install it on my carputer and check it out. It prolly won't look that bad, but it was just a suggestion. I will post some pictures after I check it out.
On the GPS note... I attemp to use VOICES as my external GPS software, but Frodoplayer always crashes when you run it. Any suggestions on what is working good as an external GPS app?
Do you mind me asking what you are coding this in? I am haven't seen anyplans for GPS integration, yet with the Mappoint SDK basic Mappoint funtionality could be added fairly easily. I am a softare engineer and write code all day (Mainly microsoft stuff) and would definetly be willing to help add GPS support (Mappoint). I have actually used the Mappoint SDK before in a work application for plotting property locations. Let me know if you have one in the works or even if it is something you plan to add. Just curious...
By the way... This is the best car software I have seen yet... you rock!

What exactly happens when you try to run V.O.I.C.E.S ?
And thanks, if I can ever solve the elusive bug that everyone is getting, then development can continue at a higher pace.

It doesn't write anything to the errorlog. Basically when you launch VOICES as your external GPS, VOICES loads and then I get one of those fun microsoft "Fatal Error Do you Want to Send Report to US" screens and Frodoplayer exits. At that point VOICES is loaded fine. It does the same with Frodoplayer in Mini Mode, Not in Mini Mode, and When Pause when you load external GPS option is checked or un-checked...
After it crashes and you reload it.. it usually crashes, with the same style error, again when you go back into it. Then if you load it again it works fine... That is the only bug I have had so far... Keep up the good work..

I have a very small fixed drive, so ALL of my mp3s are on CD/DVD. I would like to see better support for mp3s on discs e.g:
- abililty to assign the DVD root dir. as the music DB dir. and have the DB rebuilt upon disc insertion
- a "directory" mode for the CD as well as the hard drive.
- playlist maker support for CD/DVDs.
cheers.

Mini Mini Mode
I finally got a GPS installed (Colpilot 7) and have discovered that the mini frodo window is just too big when another application is running. I have tried to move it everywhere but without any luck. It always obscures a good portion of the screen. I have it rolled up where it is just the title bar. The only place it sort of works is at the bottom sitting on top of the windows task bar. But with this location I have to move it up eveytime I need to get to the controls. I have tried moving the task bar to the top of the screen but Copilot doesnt play nice with it in that configuration.
Would it be possible to either do something similiar to this virtual keyboard: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...rtual+keyboard
Maybe you could add a button to the mini mode that puts a frodo icon placed on the top left of the screen and hides the mini mode. MiniMini Mode . Clicking that shows the mini frodoplayer. The icon would always stay on top and its position could be controlled via an INI file.
The other option would be to be to add a setting to the INI file that alters the direction of the rollup. Instead of the mini window being located below the titlebar it would popup above the titlebar.

Nope. Frodplayer has its own mini display mode that I believe is not related to WMP. Correct me if I'm wrong Kevin.

The Mini-Mode is skinable I think.
You can change the size somehow.
