Ok I have installed everything in that announcement, still the same. I found that I DO have that file 'MSCOMCT2.OCX' and I tried registering is with regsvr32 however that did nothing to help, I will reset this computer and see if anything changes.
Edit:Still doesn't work after reset

I uninstalled 1.0.1 with the 1.0.3 patch. Deleted the directory.
I left what my system had installed prior to this 1.0.4 install.
Downloaded, installed, and ran and tested 1.0.4.
Got the same usual error while building database while messing with other tabs and options. Re-launched app, synced database and left it alone and it completed.
I am now going to run it to see if it errors during normal use.
If I get any errors, I will install all the files in the post "REQUIREMENTS" and re-test again.

I installed the files from the "Requirements forum" and I still get a error.
I seem to get the error when the player is stopped. When it is playing a MP3 it seems to run fine, but once I press stop and wait a few minutes it errors on me.
Error log is always blank for me.

i am running win 98se and version 1.0 i thought i added the upgrade to 1.02 or 1.03 but all the player displays is 1.0 so i guess that is what i am running or is there a better way to find out?
sorry this is so long but i thought maybe even a older versions problems may help with the issues some are having now........well here is a detailed run down of my problems....
1. when the player goes into hybernate it will not come out it freezes computer. this was not the case for the first few days of running the software but after that now it does it every time...
2. alot of the time my am or pm for the time displays incorrectly it is half cut off and located under the time instead of after it, this also didnt start till a few days of running.
3. now when i try to play video that played flawlessly with the player before some of them will not play now but instead will display the dreaded error and needs to be shut down message details are as follows

For the MSCOMCT2.OCX file problem... I was able to go to http://www.ascentive.com/support/new...e=MSCOMCT2.OCX and download the file. Don't download the 4meg patch, just the file. Then use the instructions to register it. Worked for me.

I do not know if it has been reported, I have problems keeping tracks with all the new posts everyday on the forum about the player.
Also, I was under the impression that it was a config problem, but I cannot find a way to make it work...
therefore it might be a bug and I guess I shall report it.
I have win98 on my setup, and the shutdown button don't go shutdown: it logs off. I have to relog and manually shutdown in order to shutdown. I guess I could make a bat file to call directly the shutdown process, but I guess there should be a way to configure that to work properly.

Frodo,
I'm running your player on Win98SE.
Every time I launch the app, it gives me a message titled 'FrodoPlayer-Mixercontrol Fehler' saying that 'Der Mixer kann nicht geöffnet werden.'
As a result of that, I can not adjust the volume using the buttons in the player.
I guess, for some reason, the app can't get to the Win98 volume controls.
And I don't know if it is related, but in the fperrorlog I find the following line:
... - 6 - Overflow - frmDB-tmrCleanUp_Timer
It gets written to the logfile every second the player is running.
I'm new in this community, tried about every player I could get my hands on but this one really rocks !! Keep up the good work.

i just instaled 1.0.4 and i tried to click the button to geting into all the options and load al my music but they window wont open..
i cant get into the options..
