FP and non touch screen users

Anyone use FP that doesn't have a touchscreen? What do you use to control it? I want to get the creative remote since I don't have a touchscreen but from what I understand it doesn't work in FP..even with Girder. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't really know girder too well, but if you can have the remote buttons mapped to keystrokes (ie, pressing play on the remote acts like the keyboard is pressing p), then you can get the remote to control frodoplayer.

Since the creative remote acts like a mouse won't FP work with mouse clicks?

What a nerve to use NON touch screens.

Reviewers of touch screens even make free publicity for the monkey:

So USE it!

So...can you use FP with conventional mouse. I cannot see why you couldn't but, please give me the black and white on it. Thanks

There was a post about using girder w/frodoplayer but if i remember correctly it wouldn't work but frodo is planning on implementing it in the code. i'm going to try using 'pcremote' (i think that's what it's called) with it. it will be a couple of weeks though before i get a chance to try it.

I always had intention to have it working this way, but never actually tried it and your post made me want to test it. I don't have the time to test all the controls, but I tested a few ones.

What I did:

Activate the Bessems Plugin ( it should be selected)

Define the com port and the type of remote

Train girder and assign keyboard key to girder

Set up the keys you choose in FrodoPlayer, and that’s all.

This works perfectly, so I think it's safe to assume that at least basic player functions can be achieved with the PC Remote / Girder / FrodoPlayer combo.

Girder configuration file I made. Just remove the .txt
