Frodoplayer's embedded GPS, which do you like?
Hi everyone. I am about to buy some gps software and was wondering which of the three do you like in Frodoplayer (D3, routis, Iguidance??). I'm in the US if that makes a difference in which has the better maps. So, if anyone has experience with a combination of them embedded in FP, please let me know which works nicer for you...
Thanks!

Lets see..Routis vs Iguidance.
Although there are pretty much the same, Iguidance wins because Iguidance 2.0 has better POI database, shows water, and can view more streets when zoomed out to 2500ft.
As far as Iguidance (IG) vs Destinator (D3) goes....its hard to say. I just started using D3 about 5 days ago with NinjaMonkeys frontend. So far it is impressive. Heres what I think:
D3
Cons: I dont really like the 2D view compared to IG but I do like how it autozooms according to your speed. I think the birds eye view looks pretty crappy because the road lines become very rigid. 3d view cant zoom out.
D3
Pros: 3d view looks real sharp, good voice prompts. Nice big arrows show up when prompting you to turn. Very touch screen friendly due to the help of NinjaMonkey's coding and CDrSkull's skinning (thank you kind sirs). good route calculation
*again keep in mind i've only been using it for a couple days.
Iguidance:
cons: ridiculoulsy small zoom buttons and small font for displaying street names. a little difficult to use sometimes with touchscreen
pros: good route calculation, very good voice prompting. great 3d mode that shows horizon. lots of POI.
To be honest I think you'd be happy whether you went with d3 or iguidance 2.0

Thanks Mofo, I am leaning towards D3 simply because of the people here with programming skillz (Monkeys everywhere). Please keep this up to date if you have any more opinions as time goes on...

I personally like iGuidance. As MoFo stated, the buttons are pretty hard to touch at times. Not something you wanna be messing with while driving. I always set my waypoints/destination while at a light or before I even start moving. The quasi-3D view is nice. I perfer it over the regular 2D view. Can't really compare to D3 because the only other program I have used is CoPilot and it is definitely not for use with touchscreens.

I am using Iguidance 2 right now. I think it is good enough to do the job.
I havent tried the Ninja Monkey's D3 hack. it looks good. As long as they solved the small map sizes (which made you switch maps this was my main problem with d3) then i would say give it a go

I am using D3 and Routis both along with Topo USA 4 ..
I have D3 ( ninjamonkey frontend ) within FP and the others running in the background as standalone...
I like Dest 3.1 especially if you tell it LARGE FONTS ..
very user friendly, and quick to recalculate route ( after it tells you U-Turn a couple times )..
The Top USA stuff is just wicked cool graphics, but no voice navigation, just 3d Topographical stuff.
So, I guess thumbs up for Destinator 3.1... It's probably the cheapest also..
Destinator 3 does not exist for anything other than a Pocket PC, so to use Ninja frontend, you should purchase, register, not be able to use the one for PPC to remain legal.
or just use them all ( split the com port to many apps )

Between Routis and Iguidance. I've heard several complaints about IGuidance's new look with the wide streets. I don't have this program, so I don't know for sure.
But I would go with iGuidance as they have updated their program and it looks like they will continue to do so. Whereas Routis2004 has promised an update but it has been several times now and doesn't seem to be coming out any time soon. Reliability of a company should be something to consider.
BTW, I have Routis2004 and I am still very pleased with it. The POI list is lacking and inaccurate in spots, but I have MS for that if I really need to.

The map size problem is taken care off.

If I could get better maps I would use destinator, and it is so much easier to enter information on D3. But of course for south florida it can't find most of the addresses I enter. So i've been using routis and besides all the buttons being waaay to small, it works perfectly.
