searching troubles

All my mp3s have no ID tag.
When i do a search, you can only search for artist, title, album.

Is there a way to search for filenames? Because when i do a search it will only search on the few mp3s i have in my collection that do have ID tags.
(about 20 or so)

With thousdands of mp3s if i had to give each one an ID tag i would be here for years.

Or does anyone have any other suggestions? because out of all the front ends i have checked so far i cant use any to search for my songs so i still have to use winamp

I was in a similar situation only a couple of weeks ago. So I FINALLY got around to sorting my mp3 collection by artist (each artist had their own directory) - yes this sucked. I don't ever want to do it again as long as I live. Then after that I used this: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ to handle the tags and various other tasks - it was very helpful. Maybe it could help you. I know it takes a long time to do this, I had to handle ~5000 mp3's this way, but now I'm MUCH happier that I've done so. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Thanks, thats what i needed.
Ive got just over 5 thousands mp3s too, bout 2/5ths of them are named correctly, the rest im going to have to go through by hand to rename the actual file name, then use the program to fill in ID tags for me... its a long road ahead lol

Very cool! Glad I could assist. Good luck, and watch out for hand cramps from renaming! LOL! Take care!
