Ideas on where to place Thermometers

The sale was awesome, now have a couple of Thermometers on they way. Was thinking behind mirror for external, but perhaps that would give inaccurate readings.

What are some ideas for inside and outside temperature placement?

Idea for outside : my factory-fitted outside temperature thermometer is on the front cross member between the radiator and the bumper.

im pondering this aswell, and thought just behind the foglights in the front bumper, where there is constant fresh air that is not affected by motor/radiator temp, would work. but im open to suggestion aswell.

The temperature sensors won't be harmed by sealing them off or something, will they? I was thinking of just encasing them in a thick layer of epoxy so they won't be harmed by the outdoor environment

That'd be fine, as long as the encasement is nonconductive (electrically).

I use plastic epoxy to encase the temp sensor i have in my engine coolant.

More ideas, found this from Nomander in the RR Forum.

1. for external placement..

the worse think for that is the sun's effect.. it will rise the temp giving you +10 to 15 degrees celsius.. so useless..and the second worse thing is having the sensor touching a metal surface...

I checked where OEM sensors are placed..they are placed in 2 positions..
a. in the front of the car infront of the radiator fan (as Rob suggested above) (i know it sounds stupid near the engine - but the radiator fan always sucks fresh air so it is accurate and it is not in the sun..
b. under the side mirror ( i placed mine there.. - it is not in the sun..and it is as far as possible from the asphalt and engine..) just pass the cable through the door and make a small hole under the mirror.. it works very accuratelly especially that the underside of the side mirror is made of plastic
no other positions worked - i tried them all

2 for interior sensor.
you should have the sensor not physacally touching anything - placed suspended and as far as possible from AC vents..(don't want to know the temp of the AC, it is an average temp you want) so under the steering wheel just hang the cable..

the external sensor now is accurate but only when the car is moving.. it gives me +2 to 3 degrees celsius when car is parked in the sun or +1 to 2 when stopped in a traffic light in the sun.. i
