It was a big order
But both version are/will be compatible with the software. There are just some improvements over the first version and additions that obviously wont work with the first one.

Will the new board work along side the old board, in the same skin?

Never mind, I thought about that immediately after I posted it. The brain is controlled by the software. So, the ability to use both with be a software limitation, which I think toaster will have no problem implementing.

correct.
They will be exactly the same in software. You will be able to have a mixmatch of either versions along side eachother no problem. There is never an either/or, always a both.

What about analog and digital inputs that work off a 12v signal?

just divide the signal, and send it in.

Yay for the bus port!!!
Bigger memory? Will this be the version that could have some extra programming squeezed into it? how much "user accessible EEPROM" will there be?
will analog out work it's way into this one (perhaps via I2C)?
I'm drawing blanks for a name.
And for the big question...
When Can we PRE-order?

We will put EEPROM either on the brain itself, or as an I2C module. We're thinking 64 kilobytes should be plenty. This would allow for 32,000 analog input samples.
yes, there will be analog out.

Would the inputs work too when PC is off?
What I mean is: if you use FB for HVAC, and PC dies... is there a way to have some buttons hidden and attached to FB and an LCD. Could you still control FB and your HVAC?
