Is it possable?

I know that FB can be used with a 12vdc powersupply rather than the USB power. My question is does the FB have to be connected to a pc to function? Is it the software that controls it? Or just programs it?

I was wondering if this could be used as a programable shutdown controler for the MOBO/Screen? Could you use the hot wire from the ignition(input adjusted to 5v of course) to tell it the pc/screen to turn on and off(relay)? Is this just not possable?

If not that is ok too, but would be handy for starting/stoping stuff.

It is PC dependant.

We do have "shutdown timers" on the Fusion Brain already. If an output is on, it will turn off after a set amount of time. This time is programmable per channel. So it is possible by itself, but if the PC never turns on the output in the first place, the Brain cannot auto-turn it off after the timer ends.

Also CivicModz made a "eyeR Interceptor" which I believe is programmable. I have not yet played with one (we did not make it, and we do not support it), but I think I read it can be controlled via IR without the PC.

Check out the User Innovations subforum of the Fusion Brain and his thread is in there.

But to answer your original question, the Fusion Brain must be connected to a PC to be of any use as we provide it (including the shutdown timers)

Thank you very much for your input. Getting support from the inventor is a rare thing and i appreciate everything you have done for the carpc scene. Of course, discovering your invention sends me back to the drawing board as i now have many more options and much easier ways of acompilishing what i wanted to do. Thanks again
