Fusion Brain v4 help

I got my FB v4 today.
when i connect Fb to USB the blue light turns on which says USB on side. and the fusion control center works ok but the relay do not click ( LEDs on FB work with the button but no relay)

so then i though the power should be switched to 12v in order to make the relays work. i used my modem's power supply which said "output 12v~800mA 9.6VA , is this good?

i did switched both the jumpers to the other side. now the 12v blue LED lits up, but now fusion control center does not detects the FB.
and the part marked in red circle gets really hot on 12v input. is this normal?

what am i doing wrong

Leave the jumper set to USB, which means the processor will be powered via USB.

Nothing should get hot. If that is happening, you must have one of the jumpers hooked up wrong. Unplug it and check things over.

The USB power alone isn't enough to power the relays. You will need additional power to trip them. If you have 12v relays, then your 9.6v power supply might not be enough to make them click. Find a 12v power supply.

On a related note, is it normal to hear a whine from the relays when engaged?

so you mean jumpers set to USB and plug in the 12v supply also.
i switched the jumpers to 12v when i had 12v supply in. the relays are the same which comes with FB.

The relays we supply are 12v, so you need a 12v source to power them. Also in USB mode only, no relays will trip. You need an external power source to activate the relay, a USB port is not safe enough to power one from.

That part on the bottom that gets hot is normal. It is the voltage regulator. If your FB is not being detected when you use an external source verify your polarity is correct before you connect it again as that doesnt sound good. The FB can take some damage but if you leave it hooked up like that you will destroy it.

could'nt solve the problem.ill explain all over again

3. when i connect the LED or Relay on the output . the LED on that particular output and it near by 2-3 leds turn on but on partially not fully on off status.
4. now whwn i click on the output button the LED turn on but no relay sound.

5. now i connected 12v supply on the same setup.
6. the LEDS now turning on more, like from output 1-7 all together partially on the off status from software.
7. the button is pressed on the software and i hear a relay making sound. ( can only hear whn its close to ears.not a click but a regular bussing sound)

help me with this.

and BTW what is the power selection used for?

Sounds like you have a problem with your board. Here is what I experience with mine

1. USB pluged in -> usb blue LED on -> both jumpers on USB side.
2. turned on the software-> outputs works perfectly as nothing is connected on the output, only the LED turns on and off. I did notice at some point my leds were slow to discharge after turning them of at times but think this was intermittent.
3. when i connect a relay on the output nothing changes with the led behavior
4. when i click on the output button the LED turns on but no relay sound.
5. now i connected 12v supply on the same setup.
6. the LEDS behave the same way as before
7. when the output is enabled, I do hear a relay click (but you have to be close to hear it), followed by a buzzing sound until the output is turned off and I hear the buzzing stop and the relay click off.

i did use a LED connected to the output.
the LED turns on very dimm. even if the output is on or off.
what could be the problem?

To be clear, the LEDs I talk about are onboard. Couldn't tell you what the problem
is, but double check your input voltage

VA is usually volts AC which wouldnt work... But does it say 12VDC ~800mA on it? That should work then as long as its centre pin positive on the barrel.

What is this wall wart from?
