Using FB sensors in *combination* with OBDII data?

I have an OBDII car, but I'm interested in using a FB setup to incorporate oil temperature and oil pressure sensors, which the car does not have from the factory. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to display and log everything together, either by incorporating the FB inputs into one of the typical OBDII dash apps, or by incorporating selected OBDII data into a FB app. Might also like to tie in exhaust gas temps, or even AFR at some point.

Has anyone done anything like that? I'm not even sure from which end I should start thinking about this. Seems like I can't be the only one, since in all but the newest cars OBDII data is usually missing some big, critical engine health information.

It will do the sensors you mentioned. There's quite a bit about controls (buttons) back and forth with other software, but I haven't seen anything about sharing data (like an odometer function).

First question, are you *sure* it doesn't have an oil temp sensor? My mini doesn't have a temperature gauge on the dash [grrr grumble grr grumble what the hell, mini], but it does have a temperature sensor in the engine, reported through OBDII.

Secondly, I'm not sure how you'd proxy them together, and it doesn't work on windows at the moment, but... obdsim can be used to proxy FBD values into your system as OBDII data

Thanks guys, these links are helpful. I'll post some updates if I'm able to make any progress with this.

And yes, I'm pretty sure about the oil pressure. In any case, I'm quite certain the stock OBDII doesn't report EGT, brake position, or any number of other things I might conceivably like to try feeding into the FB.
