tough call there, if I had to choose I think I'd go with the 4-30, theres nothing more annoying than being at full alert warning with 8 inches to spare, the closer distances are what these things are best help at, would be nice if there were higher resolution units...

our temp sensors will work fine for this, just dip them in epoxy

Alright... What is the operating temp to the sensors? I cant remember if it was mentioned before and I'm to tired to look

They are rated for 10 C to + 125 C, which is 14 to 257 F.
I have personally tested them to 225C, which is about 425F. I do not guarantee them past 125C, but I have seen them work much higher.

Awesome, I think most car coolant systems in cars (at least in my car and my buddies car) hover around 200F-210F

certain sensors are going to be better to source yourself too, for example a factory style screw in temp sensor may be easier to do reliably, & pressure sensors are similar, in that there are just so many different possible configurations that a sensor like that could be used in...

Here are some more ideas...
Magnetic Sensor
Vibration Sensor
Motion Sensor
IR Distance Sensor <- more accurate then an audio version
Rotation Sensor <- I.E. Volume control
Multi-turn Rotation Sensor

I was thinking something like this could be used for tire/gas/oil/coolant/whatever pressure: http://www.phidgets.com/index.php?mo...144.227&IID=82

Magnetic sensor is a possibility, but for what? I don't wan to order a bunch and then no one buys them.
Accelerometer can handle vibration
Motion is a good possiblity.
IR is covered above, that's what I planned on using.
1 turn/infinite turn rotation sensors are in the works, I have emails in to several companies.

The big thing here is interest. A lot of these sensors are only available in quantities of like 100, and I don't want to buy a bunch if no one wants them.

I don't know what a magnetic sensor would be used for I'm just trying to through out possible ideas... as for the pressure sensor I could use one for each tire plus my coolant, my oil, gas, NOS, Boost, and whatever else I may want to measure pressure on in my car. I know most people wouldn't want to go to this kind of extreme, I probably wont because of the cost but it may be safe to say 100 could sell out easily.

When it comes to something like that you might need to go custom and implement it yourself, this should get you started
http://www.meas-spec.com/myMeas/down...p/MSP-5100.pdf
http://www.omegadyne.com/ppt/prod.html?ref=PX6000-5V
http://www.omega.com/pptst/PX102.html
I may want something like this as well but I know not very many people will want something like this so I'm going my own way with it.
P.S. It wont be cheap

Yes.

But you're looking at about $70 a sensor.

Well i know dakota uses these on there systems but i dunno if i could use them along with this. anyone know how these work?, they screw into a airline to get the pressure. and i guess send a resistance back?
