This may have been asked before but can the Fusion Brain along with the photosensor sender be able to hook into a dimmable LED PSU and be able to counteract brightness levels in a brightness upgrade LCD? Could someone briefly explain the installation process on this one? Relays?
Heres what I would like to implement:
Auto LCD brightness upgrade control
pop my boot open
activate my hazard lights on/off.
temperature readings of computer components
number plate cover actuator switch
Please give me more ideas here, I want to plan this before I jump in and buy. The OP has allot of information but I still don't understand allot. I don’t want to control things like windows or air con because thee are already digital in my car and would be a waste of time.
I would have already bought one but I fear im going to get really stuck with this as im no electrician and don't really know anything about how to hook these senders in and make them work, for example if this brightness control is possible how do I calibrate it, animation?? When is a relay needed?
p.s. Im planning on ready through this whole thread soon.

We need more info about the LCD.

boot - needs one relay
hazards - needs one relay
temperature readings - needs one temp sensor for each
number plate - need more info

hey biggie, for the lcd, if your going with ccfl's then the inverters sometimes need pwm for dimming, but dimming inverters can usually be gotten that will only need a variable resistance to control brightness, if your going with led's like mine then you can use a dimming power supply for them that also just needs a variable resistance for brightness. you will probably want to build a circiut that has the lcd come on half bright until the brain comes up & takes over, I'm sure we could help you work it out

ya turbo, this reminds me of that whole attempt to create our own light kit upgrade with using a lili, many moons ago..between jdilln and whats-his-face.
I have one beggin question, as I'm --><-- this close to getting one.
Any discussation as far someone making a plugin for RR, that we could use to access it instead of embeding it, or like a COM DLL we could use with say autoit?? Uh..Uh...

Right now you can communicate to the DLL directly, but there is currently a very helpful C# programmer named Brian who is working on a DLL that interfaces with the other dll, and his will register as a windows service. The main point of the application was to create something that easily embeds into any frontend. It should go into RR no problem. In fact the first skin was a bmv2 skin and it controls winamp no problem.

100 arrived today.
Some things to note about the final version compared to the beta run:
1.) there is a jumper available to shut off the output LEDs. The outputs still work, but it kills the LEDs.
2.) the output drivers are socketed and replaceable. If you short an output, or connect too-high a draw, it won't fry the board, just the output driver. We will sell these for $1 each.
3.) the power LED is on the correct side.
4.) the 5v regulator is much beefier, rated at 1A instead of 200mA.
5.) the 5v power regulation is improved, with the addition of a 100uF cap.
6.) color coded jumper blocks
7.) has a jumper for one external power LED
8.) board is 1mm smaller

cool all the leds are green
hey blue, yeah, the infamous "backlight upgrade thread", it got so long they had to close the thread, but did anyone ever get anything to work from it?
as far as interfacing with the dll, man, the badger has done such a great job on the software that it'd be a shame not to use it, I guess I could see if it's just being used for a few simple functions & you want a button or a few built into the skin for basic stuff, but this software is so cool & adaptable & configurable & cutomizable & did I mention cool
I was thinking of having 2 skins, one large one with all controls & graphics & then another smaller one, like 60X120 or something for an embeaded control panel that can be used on multiple skins if you have the space, haven't played with those possibilities yet though... might have to choose either or at startup maybe, don't think skins can be switched once the software is launched

I think you can "switch skins" using the page functionality, but Nick would know for sure. He'll be around tonight.
I know that some of you guys may be confused about all of this. We WILL document everything, but we are focusing on getting the orders out as of right now. At this very moment, I am soldering 100 relays to their cables. We do commit to excellent customer support though, and check this thread several times a day, as well as our emails.

yeah, you can switch skins(pages) but I don't think they can be 2 different sizes & I think that all "pages" use the same background image too, plus I think it starts up on the default page, embeading the app with different sizes could be a problem too,
that's a lotta relays
