The update is 151MB. I don't think you're going to find anyone willing to e-mail something like that.

Hard setting GPS port
Hey dudes,
I am running the latest GMPC and XPort. All is working great except when the system comes out of Suspend mode GMPC grabs Com Port3 which is the main port. XPort should be taking this and the GMPC should be on 5, Sygic on 6 and RR on 7.
Any ideas how I can set the port number in GMPC to 5.
Cheers

Hi there,
Maybe someone had the similar problem i'm experiencing with GMPC.
It seems to lock the whole system up to the point that even the music is not playing properly and it only happens on sertain intersections / roundabouts in town.
The system i'm running it on is:
VIA EPIA EX 15000 Motherboard
1Gb RAM
500Gb HDD
WinXP
GPS:
Garmin GPS-15L OEM module.
GPS-Gate
Testing that i have done trying to pinpoint the problem:
Update GPS Module's firmware to the latest one
Update GMPC to the latest version 5.00.50
When driving through the intersection GMPC locks up, tried shutting GMPC down and running navigation using nRoute - all fine no lockups.
Running nRoute on the same mapset that i used for GMPC - all fine
Rebuilding the map in MapSource didnt solve the problem.
Maybe someone have any tips on how to resolve the problem?
Is there any way to report this bug (if it's GMPC's bug) to Garmin?
Thanks in advance.

I'm using XPort with GMPC and RR. You can specify the port in the settings for GMPC. Did you use autodetect?

Thanks for the quick response. I no that I can set the port under settings, but where do you disable autodetect.

Have you tried using XPort instead of GPS-Gate. I read in another forum that there were some issues using GPS-Gate.

I can confirm that the 50.00.50 version works fine with GPS Gate.

Earlier versions didn't, but the current v5.00.50 works with Franson GPS Gate just fine.

AVAWONDAFULXMAS.
I think GMPC offered to autodetect my GPS at one point but I just went into the settings and specified the port and it worked for me.
I recall first getting it to work without XPORT involved and setting the port manually. It took some experimentation to get it to work but finally it did. Without sitting in the car, I can't really remember how.

Thanks for the reply,
GPSGate works absolutely fine with GMPC, nRoute works file with it too, even if i'm driving through the intersections where GMPS locks up, nRoute does not have this problem at all.
Does anybody have any other ideas?

Anyone have issues in heavy fog?
I drove up to VT this past week from Baltimore, it took 10 hrs to get there (traffic) - Garmin worked like a champ - rock solid all the way with all my satellites locked on.
Then up in VT I got a wireless connection, so I updated Garmin (I forgot to install the patch at home) - then heavy fog rolled in for a couple days and I had 0 signal. About 4 hrs from home I got full signal back, but Garmin was pretty much crap the whole way home before that.
I'm not sure if it had to do with me updating to the latest patch - or the heavy fog and the POS 20x reciever that I have for Garmin.
I have the BU-353 as well, and my gauges screen in DFX showed 7 satellites locked the whole time my Garmin was crapping out.
Anyone else have similar issues?

I had heard the Garmin USB reciever was pretty good. I have a trial of GMPC on my development machine and I really like it. I hope they open it up a bit more so we can integrate it a bit better into RR but I was about to order the HW/SW bundle since it is around $75. If there are issues with the reciever I may just get the SW version.

I've never had issues in fog or even in rain, but I'm using a Royaltek Sapphire.

Well for a solid 300 miles I had nothing, no signal what so ever - I wonder if rolling back that update might help.
Today I drove maybe 15 min to work and I never got a signal either, which has not happened before. I do have the 20x receiver hooked up to a US extension, I'll try to shorten it and just run it off the smaller cable that it comes with.
