Damn. And I had such high hopes for it.

I tried IndieVolume too and it simply does not work. I tried to find some code samples online about doing something similar but couldn't find anything. It would be nice if this could work or if there was a plug-in for RR.

Hmm seems like each one of us has a different issue. When you say stutters, do you mean the whole speech is sounded but stutters? Or the speech gets cut short as well?

Well, since I have the USB sound card mounted in the car right now, I was doing some testing with the on-board audio and no stuttering (some might call it choppy, sound cutting in and out multiple times a second. Yes, the whole speech stutters and is not cut short).

So, it "works" with on-board sound. However. Every time GMPC says something, IV throws up an error screen which I have the option to close but it just keeps coming back up (this used to happen with the USB card as well but I forgot to mention it in my last post). There's also an option to e-mail the error report to IV, so it's possible they could fix that.

Plus now that I've heard it, I'm not sure that exclusive mode is what I want. The music cutting in and out is very jarring; I would rather that it reduced the audio volume by a set amount instead so the music is still in the background but the spoken directions are clearly audible.

Ive emailed them about IV being able to lower not mute the volume, 2 weeks now, no reply. Anybody try to use the error reporting option?, I do not use outlook so i cannot use there error reporting, If this would work without that error after ever GMPC speech, I would buy it, but also getting no reply to my email does not look good.

Well, it looks like I solved the stuttering problem. I have a couple of USB ports coming off a header on the motherboard. The sound card was hooked to one of them and GMPC would stutter while connected to that port while music would be OK. I moved the sound card to multiple other ports and it works fine. Odd.

Now if we could just get volume reduction instead of mute and those application errors resolved, we'll be all set.

Lucky you :P

I'd be happy if it worked at all. Hopefully I'll have more luck tonight when I re-install everything.

Seems like there is only one person behind IndieVolume:

"Andriy Gerasika
Developer, Support and Sales"

Maybe could try this contact form as well:

I gave up on IV and finally switched to iGO due to some issues with GMPC. iGO has its own volume control in the app so I set it higher that everything else. It's not a 100% fix but it works better than IV or GMPC did by itself. I'm using on-board audio on my test machine and in-car machine, both would cut out with IV enabled.

Ony one for panama

For panama city the only available maps are .img for garmin devices, but the map costs 150 with 3 months updates and 300 with 3 years updates.

The maps look appealing as GPS is somewhat a novelty on panama, but the price very discouraging.
