Garmin locking up?

Hi All,

i tried and old version of Garmin on my desktop PC running vista and allworked well.
I transfered it to my laptop I use for testing and Garmin would no longer find my GPS dongle. Laptop is running XP.
I updated to the latest Garmin and also tried all the lower vesions up to my earliest one and they all find my GPS dongle OK but when ever I clikci on "View Map" or Calculate route, Garmin just freezes and I have to ctrl+Alt+Del it.
Any ideas?

Com ports above 9 tend to have problems with GPS software to begin with, I suggest making that lower.

But what frontend are you using, and does it have GPS capabilities? If so, are you splitting the COM port properly?

Hi,

Will try lowering it tonight.
Trying it without front end first as I can get it to work with RR on my Vista desktop but not my XP laptop.
