Boot to black screen

Having a bit of trouble figuring out what's going on in my car.

The other day, randomly, upon booting, my CarPC will go from POST then to the Windows splash screen, then to a black screen. The computer is running, the screen is still on (the monitor works). I can plug in a different monitor, no dice, I still can't see anything.

I can boot to safe mode and can get to see Windows without any problems. I check the device manager and nothing shows up as having problems. I check the error log and don't see any errors.

I put a new HDD on the mobo and pulled the old one. Loaded windows and everything fine. Then upon a reboot, nothing. It's not intermittant either. Once it happens, it will do it every time you start/reboot the PC.

Is this an issue with the mobo or an issue with the OS?

I'm not quite sure what the next steps are that I should take to trouble shoot.

Sounds like your video driver is getting corrupted on shutdown. The odd thing is that is happened twice. Reinstall your video driver while in safe mode and see if it happens again. It could be the shutdown controller isn't giving the system enough time ot shut down OR a program is failing on shutdown that is accessing the video driver through the HAL. (StreetDeck maybe?)

The first time, I didn't install anything new and it did it.

The second time I was installing various drivers and it did it.

I will try to uninstall the video drivers and see if that works.
