I didn't think of setting the M2-ATX that way, which is the PSU that I use. I use hibernation but only have a 512meg of ram and it takes something like 30-45 seconds to boot.

Make sure that you disable everything that is not needed in the BIOS. Also, check that you are booting to the hard drive first.

That's the recommended setting for the m2-atx when you have the jumpers right. As I understand it, after 2 hrs, it's a total shutdown of the power rails when jumper B is set. You can probably just come out of hibernate before 2hrs. If all the jumpers are removed, it's a standard PSU. how do you have it setup?

I have mine setup to kill all power after 45 seconds. My comp enters hibernation long before that.

Even though you're in hibernate, doesn't that mean that after the 45 sec. you have to completely reboot ? Otherwise, I would assume you're still drawing a small amount of power somehow when your car isn't on for it to say in hibernate. Am I misunderstanding?

Thats right. After the 45 seconds, when you restart the car, the computer reboots (POST/BIOS, Re-enter Windows thru hibernation). All that only takes me about 15 seconds. I will take that over the chance of my battery being dead because of a small drain (Stand-By mode).
*After 45 seconds that PS cuts all power to the computer.*

Maybe I'm just not getting it. I was beginning to believe this board doesn't support hibernation. I though it supported stand by only. Is this something you're configuring the PS to do, or is there a setting I'm missing or test I can try?
Kind of a noob thing, but if you've been following the discussion over the last couple of days, you'll see what I mean. Thanks.

It has to support hibernation because I was using it before I installed the M2 PS.

OK. Here is the definitive response. This board does support both stand by and hibernation. However, before it will, you have to have hibernation enabled by software setting (in XP anyway). Under Display Properties | Screen Saver | Monitor Power | Power (button) | Hibernate | select Enable hibernation. Then from the front end of your choosing, assuming it supports it, it should work.
My test auto loading Centrafuse I have the following times, but YMMV:
Cold boot to FE - 52 seconds
Hibernate to FE - 27 seconds
Stand by to FE - 4 seconds
This is running under XP Pro, w/ the D201GLY, 1 Gig mem, BU-353, Shark 8" TS, and some POS power supply. And that's all I have to say about that.

I guess when you belong to a forum like this, you have a tendancy to place a little too much conficence in the collective wisdom of the group. Sometimes it works, but then there are those times when it's more like the blind leading the blind.

Wow. Blind leading the blind? You would have to assume that majority of people in this forum are at least familiar with the options available to them with regards to OS's (Windows, Linux, Mac). If you try and spell out every fine detail you end up looking like a know it all. Of course you have to set Windows to allow hibernation, how else could you access the boards ability to hibernate?
I mean, these are basically desktop computers with special power supplies which, technically, do not effect the operation of the computer. All they do is shut off power at a designated time (I am referring to the M2). All your options have to be set in the BIOS or Windows options just like any other computer (except for power shut-off time which is configured by jumpers settings). I think alot of the problems I was having in the beginning was I was trying to reinvent the wheel. Think of it as a desktop and you are set. If you are not familiar with standard desktop operations then I think you might be biting off more than you can chew with a carputer.

I called Opus on this, actually you will need a P4 cable converter. Not a BTX converter as the P4 plug pins are a distance away. The 150 has a 5A 12v Rail which is below Intel's spec for a P4 connector. Someone posted using an M1 which is only 2A. For 69 bucks, gonna give it a shot.
