Help me figure out what has my COM1 tied up?

I have serial car diagnostic software on my carPC. But about a month ago when I try to connect with it, it tells me the port is in use, and my diag software wont connect.

I havent installed anything else new on my PC.... Just all the sudden my PC has COM1 tied up even after boot.

I have the /NOSERIALMOUSE in the boot.ini so its not thinking is a serial mouse. I cant figure it out... Is there a DOS command of some sort that will tell me what has it tied up???

I found this googling "what is using a com port

1) Start|Run|type msinfo32|OK. This opens the System Information window. In the left panel click Component and then Port. You may learn what is connected to COM1. Belarc Advisor or Everest may also tell you

2) This article, while quite old. has much info which is still valid

Thanks for the info everyone.

I also found a MS tool called ComDisable )installs from an MSI) that should let me list the ports, disable and enable each one, one at a time.

Thantos Im running Frodoplayer, but this app runs outside the frontend.

Well this happened to me before and the problem is with the build in backing camera app... just go to settings and disable or change the port to a higher number.

also default for XM is port 3 but check that is no using COM 1 as well.

Thanatos.
