I need to connect my sound card to the car's audio system, but since the head unit doesn't have RCA jacks and since I can't replace the head unit I need another method of interfacing to the audio system.


Jasmar recommended LOCs. They are about $20 at but will cost me $60 for installation. I would like to do the installation myself. However, I'm not sure how they are connected.

It appears that the LOC has a pair of RCA connectors and a pair of naked leads. Where should the leads be connected to?

My assumption is that I connect an RCA adapter to the lineout on the sound card. Connect RCA cables from the adapter to the LOC and connect the LOC onto the audio system. Do I understand this correctly? If so, how is this last part accomplished?

LOC's are used to get a quasi RCA output from a head unit that does not have RCA outs if your radio has no RCA ins/outs and is not hooked up to an amp I fail to see how an LOC will help.

Agreed - as I thought about this some more I came to the same conclusion. It seems what I'll have to do is some how piggy-back another amp onto the existing speaker system without blowing up the factory stereo or the amp attached to the soundcard.
