It's not much different from my DG45FC, only it uses a mobile processor and has firewire.
Which are the two critical things making me want to change boards...lol
Wonder if you can underclock via the bios....

Are you having power isues? BEcause when i look to the voltmeter in the car, the cpc does't use that mutch you don't see the meter drop. But whe the amps swith on you do see a drop in volts. But still one heated seat uses more.
I ditched my commel because of the cold wheater problems i had with it and also the warrenty wasn't as long as the intel.

I'm not having power issues.
Keep in mind that what I use a CarPC for is extreme sound quality reproduction.
A desktop processor generates a lot more heat than a mobile processor does.
This means more current draw through the system AND the requirement of a louder fan than a mobile processor. To boot, with a mobile processor, I can actually underclock it (if the board allows for it) and can run it with only passive cooling for short periods of time (aka judging).
Extreme cold weather isn't so much of an issue down here. A few days will drop to the teens, maybe a single digit here or there, but nothing like what they get up north.
For me, HEAT is the main concern as 115 degree days during the summer can and have been the norm for a month straight.

Go for Intel ATOM
If you want a board that runs fast without generating much heat, you should go for Intel ATOM or Via Nano, then we talking 2-5 Watt for the cpu.

I know, because of your ppost on the sound of this board i got it too. Even the U46mk2 (dj soundcard) didn't cut it) the sound of the dg45fc is like the head i had. Low on the dls fronts  .

its a litle of topic, But i use a Zalman CNPS8000 cpu cooler with the lowest fan speed. It has 3 wires, so the dg45fc can't controle the fanspeed.
I did have to modify the X-bracket, but after that it works and fits like a charm.
(i'll update the worklog with the pictures, thought the X-braket is already on the forum in a dg45fc thread).

That would be great and all....but they don't fit my needs. I don't just need a motherboard, I need a motherboard with certain features.

Don't have room for a full height CPU cooler. Must use a 1U cooler. I had to modify my X-bracket as well.

The atum boards still have one problem. The chipset needs a lot of power.
In idle it just uses 10 wats las than the dg45fc with a E8500 processor lower processors use 5 watts less.
Yes with full load it will use more power. But full load for the atum isn't full load for the dg45fc.
Also the sound options for the atum boards was a little les than the dg.
