cheers

PM sent Lemming! Anyone else interested in their US sales info let me know. I don't how helpful they will be for individual purchases, but at least worth a try.

are there any mini-itx motherboards in (US or EU) that have an integrated digital-audio-input?

If possible Id like to connect my sirius tuner to the carpc with digital instead of analog, and Id like to not have to do it without using an additional accessory, thus my interest in an integrated solution

I guess I chickened out. But the Liantec ITX-6965N-T7100 was quote to me at $505 USD plus $70 USD shipping from Taiwan, plus my bank charges $40 USD to wire transfer to Liantec's bank.

WHEW and the one I wanted to get was the ITX-6965NEP-T7500 which included the expresscard slot, after the whole everything I would have paid $665 and up to 6-7 wks to get it.

End of the day I was geared up on the specs but the final price tag got me.

Any board suggestions?

Hi rayjr13, at least you've managed to get closer to the mysterious Liantec than anyone else...

Their promotion is great, the product looks good, but can you find anyone but anyone selling them? Try a google search, nowt. Email and get a response... never

The shipping and bank charges sound pretty much standard for direct dealings for samples, but the prices suggest that Liantec are targeting long-term OEMs and industrial clients. But I still think it's worth plugging with a few key etailers to see if they're up for chasing them... Logicsupply, Linitx, ICP, and Techcase seem likely options, as they are sufficiently specialised and have solid turnover.

But I'd prefer a sweepstakes... lets get some odds on whether these boards actually exist... perhaps an mp3car prize to the first person who actually manages to bag one...

I was kind of frustrated about it because the price is so high. I wanted that bored because of all the integrated horsepower. I didn'tr want to takeup a lot of space w/ expansion cards etc. I wanted strong uptodate on board vid/aud. but there's no acceleration for xvid or AVC/x64 on most ITX boards yet. So is it really worth the extra for the ICH8 etc. I have to re sell myself on this product if I'm going to order it. but the more I look at the price tag it just doesnt seem to be practical. which may be exactly why no one else carries them lemming.

Its like they have little competition at their integrator skill level and the push the R&D cost directly into every board b/c of low market demand. I'm sure they want OEM business. but other than their wewbsite what else marketing do they have that enough to sway anyone. I just don't get their sales strategy. I do OEM sourcing for my job which was how I got their attention, but honestly I wouldn't advise this for my company because of the price point.

Se there I go again. There are more cons than pros to me. I just can't seeem to sell myself on Liantec. Great product but is it marketable is what they shoulda asked themselves. Unless my April work bonus is just money spilling out my pockets I'm looking else where for a mobo. April! I've been plotting on this board for 6 months

Yep, I agree, its a great shame, as it's the best design I've seen in terms of the expansion boards and the spec of the boards themselves is good. Liantec uses the same form factor for all its expansion boards across all its mainboards, including 3.25", and therefore are most of the way to setting an industry standard that could have great benefits. By comparison, Jetway have different daughterboards for different mainboards, and Via... well, nuff said

rayjr13, were you quoted those prices as an OEM or as an end-user?

With Intel getting into the market now with some very good value boards, even OEMs will be tempted to look elsewhere.

I think it'd be great if one of the main industrial etailers like Linitx, Logicsupply or ICP could be tempted into approaching Liantec, and maybe increased volumes through retails sales may bring the price down...

That price was the price I got for samples. They quoted prices to me in an email I have at work as an OEM I think. They are trying to be a system integrated component manufacturer I guess. But the specs on the board 6965 are fairly similar to the MSI fuzzy 695. Btw the liantec daugtherboard options don't really add more than about 40-50 dollars to the price tags. But when I asked about T7300 cpu's they were trying to advise me against it since they arent going to be supported much longer by Intel. So they were pushing the t7500 which I wanted anyway since the price difference isn't much between t7100,7300, and 7500

but the point is that are trying to get into long term relationship sales with systems manufacturers. They probably could be swayed by a reseller like mp3car but question is how competitive will the pricing be?

what are the ITX boards with the GM or GME695 chipset going for, if there are any besides the MSI and Liantec. Also I saw Jetway was taiwanese too. How are their prices resell wise in US and other places?

Edit:

It looks like MSI's Fuzzy 965 is the same price from Logicsupply $255. Without the $70 for shipping and 4 wks. Minus the USB quantity and the add'l gigabit eth port on the MSI they are extremely close in spec. The big difference is the Liantec setup had Mini PCI & Expresscard & no CF, MSI has Mini PCI-E and CF. Works out about the same I guess, since I was going to do CF on the Mini PCI slot, in case I live in this or another cold weather hell very long.

New Intel Core Duo Boards Announced

As I was looking for another Intel D201GLY2A Little Valley moterboard to run a home server/raid setup, it looks like these guys are getting a bit scarse.

Looks like the "Little Valley" series was enough of a success to warrant a follow-on.

I found:

No word on price yet.

Energy saver

When you look at the 965chipset make sure that you buy GME965 and not GM965.

GME965 is the one for "laptops" and can scroll back the cpu power, when its not needed.

Yesterday i got http://www.commell.com.tw/Product/SBC/LV-679.HTM it has the GME965 chipset.
