i need to get a serial to USB adapter for my datalux LMV10 touchscreen to run on my laptop.
Ive connected the screen to my home PC and it can detect the chatter in hyperterminal, but when i used my adapter on the laptop it doesnt do anything.
i contacted datalux and they said it only works with some adapters and not others, but couldnt specify a brand.
does anyloe know of a brand or chipset that would work for me?
Its probably drawing lots of power from the serial port. You could try a powered USB hub, that would at least get you a USB port with enough load potential on it. You could also isolate the lead and jump external power in.
