Methods of mounting?

So for some time now I've been trying to come up with a method of mounting my case in the trunk which takes up the least amount of space, while still being securely held and easily accessible. So far, its simply been bungie corded against the rear seats, which takes next to no space, but without screwing it down to the seats and mounting it like an amp, its not going to be too secure. It also means that I have to lean alllllll the way into my trunk (its not a small trunk) to either pull the hdd caddy or put a cd/dvd in, as well as the fact that the rear seat back is at an angle, casing the whole system to sit at a ~70 degree angle. So I got to thinking about it, and while it would take away a bit more room, why not mount it like a cd changer? Has anyone else mounted their systems to the top of their trunk? I've even manged to find a matx desktop chassis with the correct depth (16") with the two external 5.25 bays i need. It would probably be even more seemless without a "monster" of a case like i need (full height agp&pci, 2 external 5.25's). Any problems or unforseen problems that I might not be aware of mounting it like this?

anyway, back to your topic... Ive been trying to do a similiar thing with my amp rack. I want it stealth, but easily accessible.

I really havent found anything plug and play, but I have been investigating industrial quality drawer sliders. I think it might work for you. The problem tho, is installing the sliders and making sure they are square. Its hard to do in cramp quarters.

maybe someone else has a better idea that I can use too.

I hadn't thought about using rails to mount on, but the more i think about it, the more I like it. I had been thinking about dilling eyelets and holes in the top of the case that would go bigger to smaller so i could put bolts in the car, and raise the case onto them and push it into place (is there a "proper" name for the very common mounting method i just described?), but the rails should make it easy to mount and remove.

I used the non-skid rubber stuff that they sell at stores like Target. It looks like melted rubber that has beaded up all together and comes in rolls. My computer has never shifted once in the trunk and that is the only method I use to secure it.

I have planned on using this method since the insception of my project. Although, i never wanted to mount the board/drives in a case. Rather i am building a rack that will sit level just under the rear deck of the car (the top of the trunk), to which i will mount motherboard and drives. In other words, i have a shelf in the top forward most portion of the trunk, that I will drill the atx mounting holes and mount the board. I WAS considering sliding racks (cabinet sliding rails), although i figured i needed the ability to REMOVE the board more than i needed to be able to slide it out.

My latest idea is just a board that i mount the motherboard, drives, and psu to, that can be taken out and setup in the house.

My thoughts are little scattered right now, any questions?
