carry case for carputer / fan placements sugestions? / work in progress...
So, i decided to re-do my carputer setup...
I want something that i can take out of the car quickly. Weatherized to prevent stray rain drops / snow flakes but with good control over temp.
im planning on adding a thermostat switch of some sort to activate or shut off fans if temp falls over/below a certain threshold.
More info coming later.
for now im wanting opinions of the subject. ^_^
At open air, the the temps are currently at
CPU 95F.
mobo 85F.
Asus P5L-MX
CPU: intel e4300 duo core 1.8ghz.
2gb ram.
...dont ask why.

how do you plan to secure it so it doesn't slide in your car?

For the record...I didn't run any fans on my mini-itx board...but yours I am sure is quite a bit hotter. I think you have the right idea...just watch the temps while you are testing it out....
My home computer runs at 50C for comparison.
...I got that same case at Walmart...it is labeled as a pistol case...
There is a foam piece that fits in between the one in the lid, and the one at the bottom...it is cut in small cubes, so you can make custom cutouts for all your gear. I have 2 small camcorders and all their accessories in it, each piece in its own little compartment...as opposed to before when they were all thrown in the bottom of the backpack.

At open air, his is cooler than your's.
I'm betting with both fans, that it will remain the same temps (in doors at least).

update! gun-Case carputer.
update! it is somewhat done... now I just need to get it out to the car and set proper wiring for the power and such.
air flow is great! i have not seen CPU go above 120F as of yet. I have been playing full screen video 1280x720 divx within Centrafuse front end. CPU usage is around 8% most of the time.
Temps average: (asus seems to have them backwards? ...)
Closed case - CPU 116F / mobo 88F
open case - CPU 118 / mobo 90F
Looking good so far... ^_^ I go put it in the car after work tomorow.
...forgot to mention, the cpu's heatsink+fan are held down bolted gently and slip prevention in place. I did away with the push pins. more info on that later.

So you added a 3rd fan? Is that an intake to blow air across a bridge and ram? It's what it looks like in the pic.
Edit:
Never mind, I saw in the earlier pics, you have that hole there as well (no fan in it).
