Help me get my 2.5 to 3.5 drive adapter working.

I just bought a 2.5 to 3.5 drive adapter on eBay. The computer does not detect the drive as a master or slave. It just does not appear. There is no master/slave jumper on my 2.5 drive (is there supposed to be?).

There is a missing pin on the 3.5 side of the adapter which corresponds to the missing pin on a standard 3.5 adapter. However, on the 2.5 side of the adapter, there is no missing pin to correspond to the missing pin on the 2.5 drive. Can I just assume the missing pin on the adapter to be on the same orientation as the missing pin on the 3.5 side (I hope that made sense)?

Or maybe someone knows where I can find a pinout of a generic, typical 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. I tried googling, but couldnt find anything.

I am afraid to do damage by connecting the adapter the wrong way. Is that even possible?

My 2.5 inch Hitachi Endurastar came in today and I tried to connect it with the adapter. The drive spins, but the BIOS still does not detect it. Ive tried using the drive in an external enclosure and it works just fine. Whats wrong? Shouldnt any 2.5 drive connected to a 3.5 inch adapter work in any motherboard with a 3.5 connector?

I figured out my problem
It just needed the slave/master/cableselect jumper to be put in place
