XM USB Adapter (screenshot?)
I have an XM Commander. When I eventualy get the car pc I would like to run the XM through the PC and control it from the display.
Just wondering what the XM interface is going to look like on the car pc display if I use the USB adapter? Dont see any screen shots, and browsed the RR skins section, didnt find any skins showing XM running.

there are lots of skins that have xm but i agree there are very few threads that have screenshots of xm skins displayed. I searched for this early in the week in hopes to get a jump on skinning for my XM system

Yup. I'm looking at the Xenarc MDT X7000 as a display, poked around in it and see that the onboard AM/FM Tuner screen looks to me like it was designed by a 1960 Nasa Engeneer (straight text in colums) bleh .
Just wondered what my XM was gonna look like.
Would hate to go through all this trouble putting in a system and then be ****ed every time I switched to half my screens functions.
Dont think I'll be using FM that often, and hopefully not the CD either, so the fact that they are native to the head unit and poorly screened may not be a problem, but will be on XM and digital media off the HD a lot, so that has to look good.
Not asking for much . . . just want 7" motorized (good) display that ties in AM/FM, XM, DigitalMusic, NAV, Bluetooth and Web browsing. . .now is that too much to ask
So far hovering around either a C7 or PentiumM driving that Xenarc with XM,Bluetooth and WiFi on the USB and RR or possibly Streetdeck. Hopefully WinXP, IGuidance Nav and enough graphic proscessing power to run 3d type screen savers and little apps when the car is parked at a show without them looking like a slideshow.
Concerns at this point : Has to be single din, HD has to be rough enough to endure my suspension (C5 Corvette, not a racecar but not soft either), bulletproof power (so one of those Opus PS I guess) and it has to look good .
Its all going into the stock speakers (Bose with amps on them) so I'm not nutz about perfect tuned audio (I'm half deaf anyway from work).
Open to any suggestions.

So no one is using this XM adapter sold here on mp3car and is able to post a screen shot of what the xm page of their front end looks like?
http://store.mp3car.com/XM_Package_X..._p/sat-008.htm
Also, Streetdeck is listed as a requirement. Does that mean this adapter only works with streetdeck?
Havent decided on a front end yet, but just want to see if whatever one i use will show the channel names, icons, and allow presets when using this adapter.
Or, any other way to get the xm info from my xm reciever (xm commander) to my car pc ? Just wanna drive the XM from the touchscreen and have presets. Dont want to buy components that I wont be satisfied with later, so would like to see what it looks like running if possible.

Isnt there some type of issue with XM and USB, were it does not come out of stand by currectly. I decided to use the post that explains how to make your own. The post says that serial is the best way to go. It cost me $2.45 for the 8 pin mini-din cable and $1.75 for the serial connector and cover! Thats way better price then 40 something dollars, and less headaches.
Here is the link to it..... http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/faq-...ml#post1148676

You da man Sonic :-)
Well at least I will be able to finaly see the stations :-) Not dead yet but old enough to need reading glasses, and with the small commander head I currently have (coupled with the fact that if you blink, you change lanes in the vette), I cant use half the xm stations I have now with this setup.
That screen would work for me.
I think I may do the serial route also, dont care, as long as I get the station icons.
Ill redo the skin also, need to just show where you are on top, keypad for three digit station entry on right, and presets in list on left.
Getting closer to pulling the trigger :-)

Its funny cause I had bought one from hybrid mobile when I first started to build my PC. When I connected it though, it got really hot and melted completely. I then thought about USB, but then I realized it wasnt the fact that it was Serial, but the fact that they used discabobulated parts, and didnt check thier contacts on the pins.
First i'll make mine and see how it goes, then i'll make one for free, its only $3.00, plus in the past you have given me sound advice, thats workth something.
