M1-atx power supply not turning mobo on!??

hey guys,

Just got my car pc kit, and im having a few troubles getting the power supply to turn the pc on with ignition. Currently its being bench tested.

I found it funny that a desktop pc switch when plugged into the mobo turns it on fine... has anyone got any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

I am really lost on this matter.

Thanks in advance

Daniel

How is the M1ATX wired up?
do youy have the two-wire lead that goes from the M1 to the power switch headers on the motherboard? Have you tried reversing one end of that lead? Polarity matters on many motherboards.
Have you tested the lines that go to 12v constant and 12v switched to make certain they provde 12v constant and 12v switched (by the ignition)?
I suggest breaking out the multimeter.

So wait, the M1-ATX also uses a +5 volt signal to start the motherboard. Do all of the Startup/Shutdown controllers use this?
